The Austin Zoo is fun to go see the animals, but it also rescues animals from abusive environments, such as Circuses or abandonment, so not only do you pay to see some cool animals, but your entry also helps fund efforts to continue to save...More

I got a Groupon for this thankfully. There weren't many animals out. The people that work there were nice. We saw a cougar, lion, wolf, some birds and pigs. They have a goat petting zoo. Saw a bear thru the walk way but couldn't see...More

nice setup, animals well cared for, love the chickens and peacocks wandering around, bears were a hoot playing in the water and "fighting" the sprinkler spray

I was glad to find a zoo with rescue animals. Fun and affordable! I would go back for sure. Also very kids friendly.

I love Austin Zoo! It's a better-than-expectations rescue shelter like no other. It's range of animals, it's experience in interactions with staff and animals, and it's size (being smaller rather than bigger) are all it's positives. After my first visit, I promptly bought a membership....More

Rescue zoo with lots of great stories of animals finding their forever home. We loved it. Keepers were friendly and helpful.

We were lucky enough to get a private tour thanks to a GHA/Omni Local Experience and really enjoyed meeting its Director, Patti Clark. The Zoo has the admirable mission of not existing at all - specifically, without the need to rescue abused, injured and abandoned animals,...More

This is a small zoo. It's nice but there really isn't much to it. If zoo's are your thing there is a world class one 60 miles south of Austin in San Antonio.
