I drove an hour from Ranger to see this in Abilene. Just one exhibit - one room - one illustrator. Not worth the trip though driving around and looking for the statues helped make up some of the disappointment. Person at desk says they cannot...More

We were lucky enough to see 20 years of the best children's books illustrations. It doesn't take much time to see everything but if you are passionate about literature you will remember this for a lifetime. The staff is very friendly and didn't kick us...More

It is a nice museum. Very spacious for reading and looking at the illustrations of work. Nice book store with a good selection of books as well as signed copies in some of them.

I'd been wanting to. Is it the NCCIL for some time and was not disappointed with this visit. The quality of exhibits was outstanding. There is a nice little gift shop, as well. Too bad we couldn't be there for any of the wonderful lectures...More

This gallery was small, but interesting. They focus on different illustrators during the year. My only complaint was they did not have enough signed books to buy. It is small, and does not take much time.

I am very sorry that you were disappointed in your visit. The NCCIL organizes and displays exhibitions of original artwork from children's book illustrators. Exhibitions change 3 times a year, and they are almost all single artist shows featuring artwork from multiple books. There is...More

I've enjoyed coming to the NCCIL several times. You will find award winning illustrators' displayed in creative ways. As a teacher, I enjoyed connecting to literature used in my classroom. In the summer there is a festival that celebrates children's literature in June.

I went with my husband and adult daughter. Our daughter is an art major who loves children's books, so we visited for her benefit. We did not get to see the usual collection, since a special William Joyce exhibit was on display instead. However, we...More

I took my 4 and 9 year olds. My 9 year old was enchanted with the stories and illustrations. She loves to read, and this place infused a more vigorous appetite for reading (which I didn't think possible). Once they noticed my 4 year old...More
