We enjoyed looking around this historic area and trying to envision the life of those who lived here so many years ago. There's not a lot left of the buildings, but just enough to wet your appetite.

I'm a history buff so I really liked it!!! Its free and pretty much self guided. The trash is,k owed so there's basically a trail around. Only dissapointment was the small building across from the rest of the facility was locked.

We lived in Abilene for several years and I always wanted to visit the fort, but never did. On a recent visit back to town, I remembered this place and looked it up on the map to find the exact location. As we left town early in the morning we stopped to look around. It was a beautiful sunny morning,... More

I gave it a 5 because I LOVE this old fort, but I am not sure anyone who is not a die hard history buff would enjoy it. Not much is left, but I go to the fort about once a year, just to walk around and feel...

This is a little far out but it was a really nice place to hike just be careful of ants. It's definitely peaceful.

Didn't have much to do so took a drive that led me to Fort Phantom Hill. It was nice to have a map provided for a self guided tour. The grass was getting a little high but understandable with all the rain recently. The area was peaceful, serene, a great place to reflect on the past. Bonus was restrooms are... More

Had a few hours to spare and we enjoy other Fort cities, so we decided to visit Fort Phantom Hill. Only direction I found on the highway was a direction to Fort Phantom Hill lake without a milage indicator. Followed the road for several miles without a sign of a lake or a fort. Turned around at the turn off... More

This is a great place to visit if you l8ve history. We were there on a late spring day when it was cloudy and it seemed to add to the experience.

Easy to find, we had it to ourselves and really enjoyed exploring the ruins. It's very scenic and easy to picture life in the Fort in its heyday.
