The Visitors Center, located on the first floor of the rebuilt Aiken Railroad Depot, can assist you with any questions you may have, contains maps and brochures of the area, a calendar of events and more.

The Train Museum, located on the second floor, has nine dioramas that depict the towns, as they were in 1916, along the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company right of way. This railroad became the first designed steam powered commercial railroad in the US and the longest railroad in the world. These dioramas are done in the familiar HO scale and are complimented by interactive displays depicting railroad history.

*The Aiken Trolley Tour also departs from this location.

2 four year old twin girls, they truly enjoyed the trains, although their attention span did not allow a long visit. The tour was hosted well and all stall was pleasant .

The staff on the trolley tour of Aiken did a great job. It was well worth the money. I really enjoyed seeing the diorama upstairs as well.

Very nicely done and represents the original depot building as it was years ago, small museum upstairs with some interesting displays but not that much to see, working miniature train display would be enjoyed by kids.

Okay, in the summer you get live musicians playing out front. Everything from country to bluegrass. Staff is knowledgeable and wonderful with children. Small museum, but well worth the visit. Plus you can walk around the main street area and enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants.

This is a very nice museum. Being train enthusiast and a Charleston tour guide it is exceptional. Young lady working there was very nice.

The Visitors Center in Aiken, SC was such a pleasant surprise. It is well located and in a former train depot (which has been rebuilt). You are pleasantly greeted by a very knowledgeable staff and their pride in the visitors center and their town shines through. Trains are displayed outside, but the real treat is on the second floor of... More

The Depot has a well-kept and enticing museum. My family really enjoyed our visit and made a purchase at the shop. And getting to play music at the weekly jam was great!!
