Our hotel was walking distance to Fort Macon which allowed us to check it out. Very cool fort showing it's old history. Well kept and clean. Informative inside area with lots of mini things for kids to nest around with.

We got a tip to come here on our Labor Day visit to the coast. Free parking, rest rooms, not too busy, a natural surrounding (no condos or development), clean. We’ll definitely head back here in the future!

Spent large part of afternoon at this Park and in the visitors center. It was time well spent and I especially enjoyed the movie that was show. Great place to take your family. You can also take a walk on the beach.

A great option when you've had too much sun and fun. The visitors center has been expanded and is great, especially for free. Take an afternoon and thoroughly explore this gem of a historic fort.

We spent a few hours going through the Fort. The fort itself is beautiful but the views from the top are breathtaking. The “rooms” that give a glimpse into what life was like during various periods of time are well done.

I was born and raised in this area so coming to Ft. Macon State Park for the beach access is a staple in my family's summer for as long as I can remember. This was great nostalgia for me gathering items for the beach and...More

To my knowledge there is no place to dock a boat to go and visit the fort. The Coast Guard base is on one side and open beach on the other with no dock.
