The Zoo

I was there on a rather warm day, but there is plenty of shade. The animal exhibits are very well done. The grounds are well kept and the staff is friendly. Well worth the trip !!

We get a membership for the NC Zoo and the NC aquariums each year and love every visit. This visit the polar bear was a little shy, but I think that's because it was so hot. As always though, our visit was great. We always enjoy our family times at the zoo and try to go every chance we get.... More

We had promised our grandson a trip to the zoo before school resumed in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately the best time for our visit was just a couple of days after severe storms caused extensive damage throughout the zoo. The African half of the zoo was closed for about a week. The North American half remained open but the... More

Good zoo. Animals are in a natural setting, clean facility that takes education seriously. Lots of free parking, food not too outrageously expensive, beautiful grounds. Easy access to major roads yet in a rural setting.

Had a great time at the zoo! Lots of walking but that's what you should expect! Nice to see the animals.

Had a great time even though the Africa Side was closed from the storm. Kids had a wonderful time as well. They have done a great job with the landscape and give most of the animals more room to roam than most zoos.

Our visit took place after a recent large damaging storm and the "Africa" exhibit was closed for repairs. Be sure to check the zoo's website for notices about it. We enjoyed it immensely even without the African part. Just as I was told, this zoo is different from most in that it provides natural habitats as best possible and in... More

Unfortunately we only got to see half the zoo due to damage from the storm they previously had but it took us 5 hours and the kids will have great memories to bring back if there vacation to Nc. We thought the staff was very knowledgeable about the animals and where very friendly . Loved it was very shady and... More

This place can be crowded and hot. I like that the larger animals have a lot of room to roam in. I just wish they provided more information on the animals or made it a little more exciting. I'm not sure why, but I was kind of bored at this zoo.
