About Walk This Way
There are no Walk This Way tours of Intramuros any longer. Mr Celdran has packed up his bags and migrated to Madrid, Spain. Click for reasons for his departure. https://bit.ly/2VxqNG3 If you would like a walk around Madrid with him to reflect upon the life of Filipino National hero Jose Rizal, hit me up. I'm not doing much. The tour is in English and geared towards Filipinos and those interested in Philippine history.

I joined the Intramuros tour. It was less of a tour but more of a comic show. It was not meant for walking or sightseeing. Most of the tour was in a small area near Fort Santiago and a small room in that area. It ended at San Agustin Church. What I liked about the tour: I learned about Filipino culture and history. It was different from most of the sightseeing tours. What I did not like about the tour: The host Carlos Celdran wasn't really funny, but very dramatic. He was obviously very passionate about his country, but the way he conducted the tour was just too much. He was very loud and YELLED TOO MUCH, which made me really uncomfortable. The tour was also quite expensive. A tour/show of around US$25 with 100 other people for 3 hours was really not cheap for Southeast Asia. The tour wasn't really a good experience for me and I would not recommend it.

Wonderful performance, extremely informative in the perfect setting of well maintained colonial Manila. Learned a lot about Philippino history in just 3 hours, Carlos doesn't shy away from constructive criticism, which I find courageous and refreshing. Bravo to the entire team for smoothly organizing a quite large group and being very inclusive even for people with difficulty waking!

I heard alot of good reviews about the ‘walk this way’ tour and was really excited to check it out for our vacation to manila. Unfortunately, I think it’s overrated, overacting and over priced (for what we experienced). The theatrics were the unique proposition for this tour but I think it was overly done that the essence of the history was diluted and seems unclear. I’ve been in so many walk tours and most of them were free and the tour guides were great story tellers, they were passionate, animated and very friendly and approachable. Overall, my experience was disappointing. I hope the celdran team takes this feedback as constructive to improve their content.

Thank you very much for your review and we appreciate your initiative to let us know. Please accept my deepest apologies for the discomfort you felt regarding the script's content. Yes. The tragic and complex history of Manila can be a little bit jarring, it is rife with violence and systematic oppression by waves of invaders, colonizers, dictators and of course, the historic exploitation of the country by it's own Catholic heirarchies. But unfortunately, that history mentioned above is validated through years of research and we cannot change the content of our script. Manila's history is not for the faint of heart, that is true, but to rewrite history for the sake of comfort would be a terrible injustice to the city and it's people. In addition, although it may be a wonderful idea and I agree with you, the concept of giving free tours isn't possible either. Unfortuately, I have employees to pay and a firm believer that all work has value and demands compensation. It is not clear by your review if you finished the tour from beginning to end though. Should you have done so, I am sure the World War 2 scene after the intermission would have been pivotal to the understanding our process. It's the point where the script takes a turn and how things were not what they seemed to be at all. The last two acts of the performance are integral to understanding Manila. Nevertheless, we do not want you to leave with any feelings of bitterness and anger. If you Kindly email us once again and send us your details, we will immediately forward a full refund for you and your party. Happy Holidays. Carlos

To go through 2.5hrs of Manila traffic to be on-time for a 430pm tour and realized that the showman did not show up until 30minutes later tells me that he doesn’t respect people’s time and schedule. Caught him shouting at his staff for forgetting his laptop leaves a bad taste for his audience even before the tour begins; A big no-no in the travel industry. Content was very limiting, more theatric than informative, more opinions than facts, lack stories surrounding the people, how they live in the walled city. A lot of shouting and using of cuss words that aren’t appropriate for small children.

I deeply apologise for that delay. Our delay and the lack of our laptop was due to reasons that were personal and I have no excuse. I really shouldn't have been so curt with my brother - in - law and other family members who you are mistaking as an employees. As family, I shouldn't let matters of the home be brought to work. I will take that into consideration for my last tours. And as for the last part of the review, I once again apologise the discomfort felt by your group due to the jarring nature of Manila's history and my method of getting it across. Should you have stayed until the end, I am sure you would have been pleasantly surprised by the turn in the narrative. It is not clear by your review if you finished the tour from beginning to end as well. Should you have done so, I am sure the World War 2 scene after the intermission would have been pivotal to the understanding our process. It's the point where the script takes a turn and how things were not what they seemed to be at all. The last two acts of the performance are integral to understanding Manila. Thank you for the heads up. I shall try my best to modulate my voice as well as my...um feelings. Sigh. It's true. It's very hard for me to present Manila's complex and somewhat dark history without um... feeling something. Nevertheless, I think it's worth a shot. Thank you for giving us feedback. Happy Holidays.
