A small and very overpriced museum (7$/person), with only a handful of exhibits. Nice collection of corals though.

I visited museum with my family. I think there isn't enough cultural items. We bought some souvenir there but when i compare with retailers museum was very expensive. Souvenir might be bought from retailers, duty free is also more expensive.

Spend half an hour at the national museum. Not the most interesting place, but still informative. :-)

Noticed that our national museum is missing many items like our forefathers main economic activities like Raaverikan, kanburuverikan, bolihilun (collecting shell from reef) and even traditional fishing items are not available in the museum.

This musuem, whose construction was funded by China, depicts the history, culture and marine flora/fauna of the Maldives. Thanks to the air-conditioning, it is a nice place to spend on a hot afternoon or rainy day. Entrance fee is 100 MVR and there's an additional 10 MVR for taking photos. There are two floors. On the ground floor, there are... More

Not much information provided woth regards to ancient times, Buddhist Kingdom of Maldives which is the foundational importance to the history this country. Also limited information on history of the Hinduism cultural influence originated from the neighbouring countries and about on European colonialism. We spent more than an hour to tour the entire museum. If time permits, would recommend this... More

I learned a great deal about the history of the archipelago on my afternoon's visit to the National Museum. My guide was a distinguished older Maldivian lady who was caring and interesting, displaying a true internationalist outlook in the process. She did such a great job fleshing out the bare bones of the written descriptions on the labelling of the... More

If you want to know the history of Maldives visit this place. It is very neat and clean place. People are so nice and eager to tell you about the things. You have to take ticket to take photographs inside. Experienced very interesting exhibition of technical and fossils.A must visit for museum lovers.
