The mosque is famous for its stone carvings and lacquer works. One of the oldest mosques in the country and it is protected by UNESCO. Mosque is still used daily for prayers and advised to visit only during non prayer times and is expected to wear decent clothes if you want to get in to see the beauty. Men &... More

We had a great guide so he made all male city interesting and nice. He knows a lot stories about the king, the government, the war, the religion. Indeed he brought us to a shop to wait for rains stopping, but he didn't push us to buy anything.

I wish I could have gone inside the mosque as it only allows men or women with scarves. Please be forewarned to bring a scarf if you want to go in. My husband said it was pretty nice inside.

makes for a nice short visit. Only muslims are allowed into the mosque, others can walk around the graveyard looking at the mausoleums

Sometime we can see the the color was faded because of not maintaining properly. I addition to this, history of mosque is required in writing like information Board. It can mention how develop and renovated mosque till today.

One of the few preserved mosques in the city. Calm and peaceful surroundings . The tombstones in the courtyard adds to history of the mosque.

The old mosque and the surrounding courtyard is a nice and quiet place to take a break from all the chaos and traffic on the narrow noisy streets. It offers a glimpse of what Maldives look like before the colonial era. The courtyard and cemetery is open to all, but to enter the mosque, there is sign saying non-muslims must... More

We visited the Friday Mosque on a walking tour of Male. The coral carvings were nice. The walking tour billed as 2.25 hours lasted 40 minutes and was a complete waste of time. The guide was terrible, uninformative, and cut the museum and fish, fruit and vegetable markets from the tour. He gave us 20 minutes to shop for useless... More
