St Mary's Cathedral is 1 of the classical structures built by the British that you can find within the historical area of Merdeka Square. This Anglican church was designed by British architect, A.C. Norman and it incorporates an early English Gothic style into its architecture. Visitors including tourists are welcomed to visit this church.

Located at the head of the cricket field, St Mary's provides an insight of the past. Modest inside compared with some churches, but enough interest to spend half an hour. The church appears to have been extended at some time but this is seamless inside.

St. Mary's is an interesting building in terms of architecture and acoustics and the recently restored historic organ is an amazing piece of work from colonial times. You don't need to be Anglican or even Protestant to enjoy attending and giving the history of the place and the people who worshipped here over the centuries a thought.

Tranquil sanctuary from the heat and traffic of Merdeka Square. Constructed around the 1890s in plain style for use by the British community. Various plaques around the walls include in honour of various British government officials and servicemen during the last century. Whitewash walls and numerous windows give a bright, airy atmosphere to the cathedral with modern cooling for the... More

I took the Hop On Hop Off Bus and we passed by the St. Mary's Cathedral. Considering the heavy traffic in Kuala Lumpur I decided to give this a miss.

The Cathedral has a simple design it is light and set in an area of KL which is open and green and has a very peaceful atmosphere a great place to worship. It provided a refuge for us from the searing heat.

When you're visiting Merdeka Square, take a look at this church. It's a small but beautiful British building.

Dating back to colonial days of the 19th century, this Anglican Cathedral is an active worshipping community which welcomes visitors. There are many busy and seemingly thriving annexes to the main worshipping church, which is spiritually quiet and offers a chance to reflect and pray. Located overlooking the old cricket ground, Royal Selangor Club, former High Court and Railway Station…the... More
