KL Tower - Sky Deck and Skybox are on the same level, Level 5, open air, the highest level permitted to visitors. Having paid extra for access to Skybox, which turned out to be only 45 seconds per person, I was unimpressed by it only having 2 panels of floor glass to see the full drop view. Visitors ticket numbers constantly being called for Skybox over the loudspeaker is very annoying, and loud, and ruins a certain atmosphere that should be felt while blooking from such a height over KL city.
Observation Deck, Level 4, gives a far better view with it's angled outward windows, unobscured by the concrete outer ring that is on Sky Deck Level 5.
Observation Deck, Level 1, has bars in front of the windows restrict leaning forward for a better view.
Overall we had a good experience as we were there early evening with enough daylight to see across the city, but also stayed long enough for daylight to fade and to see buildings across the city light up

We arrived at 2 p.m. and the line was short. We departed at about 3:30 p.m. and the long line to enter the building made us panic. We bought a ticket to the SkyDeck Observatory and went upstairs. There was some confusion due to the elevator. If someone taps the elevator from the middle floor before reaching the specified floor, they may unintentionally leave from the wrong floor. Sky Deck had two glass viewpoints. It is better to check both to make sure which one has a shorter line. Despite the supply of a queue number, the operators on both deck operate differently.

What an amazing experience! This was on my “must do” list while visit KL for the first time. So glad I did!! I went early and got there when they opened. I had not prepurchased a ticket as I didn’t want yo be locked in to a time. It paid off going early as there were no queues for tickets. I purchased the Outside Observation Deck ticket PLUS the Skybox 1 (( there are 2… one with Petronas Towers {#1} in background, and the other {#2} with the new Merdika 118 building {now 2nd tallest building in the world apart from Burj Khalifa in UAE} ))
Once inside, you are ushered by very helpful staff to a lift and according to your ticket, the correct floors are selected for you & you’re told where to alight. Once on your floor, your ticket is scanned again, (at this point if you’re doing the Skybox, you will be given a number. Do not lose it! It’s your queue number) and you are free to take as long as you like admiring the incredible views from 335m up! You can walk all the way around. As you admire the view, you will (if you bought a Skybox ticket), be listening out for your number to be called. Then proceed to the relevant Skybox.
You have a little time in the Skybox to take your own quick photos and the photographer is only too happy to take pics on your mobile for you too. He will then take a few professional pics which you can view inside, but are not obliged to purchase.
I absolutely loved the Skybox experience, but be warned it is not for the faint hearted!! You are standing on glass 335m up !!! Brilliant fun !!
Highly recommend
Allow 1-2 hours depending how quickly your queue number gets called.
If you buy a ticket to the outdoor observation deck, you can also get access to the lower inside deck (but not vice versa)

Beyond everything, that is waiting times and stay, it is definitely worth a visit. The view from above is very beautiful, and the two transparent platforms placed on the outer edge of the terrace are also quite exciting. Ideal time to visit, a little before sunset, so you can appreciate the sunset light that illuminates the city until dark. Reservations are practically required.

I would recommend the Sky Box and Sky Deck - Sky Box is especially cool because you can look down and have the city under your feet! Views are amazing, plus you get to see the Petronas Towers from here. Pro tip: go early in the morning so it's not as busy and you can spend a little extra time in the Sky Box

The ticket options are a bit confusing but were easy to get on the day we went. The Sky Deck is an open viewing platform (nice open air views, in contrast to Petrnoas Towers which is behind glass). We also did the 'Observation Deck' which is one floor down but as this was behind glass we didn't feel it was worth it. Note on the Sky Deck, there is a long queue (45 min) for the 'Sky Box' experience and we didn't feel it was worth the wait or expense for that; it is the same view after all just in a box with a glass floor. All in all the tickets were quite expensive and in retrospect we would have just done the Petronas Towers since they are more iconic, and it's a similar view from both. If you can't do Petrnoas Towers because the tickets are sold out this is a close substitute. There is also a restaurant at the top which we didn't try.

Very strange experience.
Skyboxes are exclusively entertainment for 45 seconds for lovers of Instagram photos (and if you go with two people, buy a ticket for two at a time, then you have 1 ticket for two)
It’s beautiful to walk between the booths and you can take a couple of beautiful photos with views of the city (there are no grids like in Bangkok, for example)

The closed area was not at all impressive

the KL tower commands a hefty price to reach the top so one can savor the view from there. we just stayed at the base and lingered a little
while waiting for the lights to change colors.

there are food kiosks around and a souvenir shop. a miniature replica of the tower was also on display at the ground floor.

there is ample parking but wifi is not available. we would have stayed longer had we not included the petronas towers in the evening itinerary.

The views from the top are nice but there are only 2 lifts. The same will be used for VIP, people visiting restaurant, observation deck and sky deck. Even during non-peak times, there will be a minimum wait of 1-2hrs.

Sky box tickets can be purchased on the sky deck and it will be closed if the weather is bad.

KL tower is a nice tower to get a good view of entire Kuala lumpur city.

There are multiple varieties of tickets - skydeck, observation deck, skybox etc.
I took the ticket to skydeck+skybox. You get a nice view of the city from the top. You can get the side-view of petronas towers from here. You also get to see the majestic Merdeka 118.

There are two skyboxes, one which has petronas towers in the backdrop and another with normal background. You need to spend a considerable amount of time in queue to get to the skyboxes, especially the one with petronas towers in backdrop.
I went only to the normal skybox . I didn't find it worth spending a long time in queue, just to spend 15 seconds in a skybox.
