Overview
More
Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.

Lots of choices if you are looking for traditional items. Be careful with the prices though, not overly cheap but it was the only place we could find a child sized malay outfit. Lovely people selling there too, not too pushy.

The central market is a popular tourist attraction and a traditional landmark in KL. This beautiful heritage site is a great place to purchase hand craft souvenirs. We walked around observing prices and obtaining several artifacts at a bargain.

coming right out of china town, we visited central market. rather expensive stuff which can be found cheaper elsewhere. Air conditioned covered place (most of it). You can visit if you are around, but useless to come specifically for this place

You will not find a lot of authentic goods there, but mainly tourist gifts. But it is in an area most tourists will visit anyway, so why not go and look around? And maybe the Petronas Towers keyrings and the I Love KL T-shirts are...More
