Jalan Alor
About
This former red-light area is now one of Kuala Lumpur’s top culinary destinations. The sidewalks are lined with seafood eateries, hawker stalls, and coffee shops serving some of Malaysia’s best hawker fare. You’ll find delicious street food like satay, BBQ chicken wings, stir-fried noodles, and also desserts. Wash it all down with some ice-cold beer or the locals’ favorite: sugarcane juice. This buzzing street draws budget travelers for its affordable prices and shutterbugs for its nostalgic vibes. Join a food tour of Kuala Lumpur, which will bring you to all the best food spots in Jalan Alor and the city. – Tripadvisor

An explosion of sounds and food smells in the evening - must be experienced.
Local evening market and street food. From the late afternoon and throughout the evening, there is a fun and hectic atmosphere here. Lots of people and many restaurants with local and exciting dishes. If you are in Kuala Lumpur, you must also visit Jalan Alor.

    Delicious!
Even if you aren't particularly hungry, you will be once you smell all the great food on the grills and see the beautiful fruit offered for sale. This is a food lovers paradise! Go after 5 pm, or if you happen to be in that area in the morning, I have also found a couple of great street vendors selling breakfast. Definitely try the nasi lemak -- day or night.

Great atmosphere, difficult for vegetarians but options available.
Really great food market on the street at night. Would recommend going for the atmosphere if nothing else. Not many vegetarian options available (as is expected) but more than most and if you ask some restaurants will do a meat-free version of some dishes on the menu.

    Busiest food street in Asia
I think it's the best famous food street in Asia. Close to Lot 10. The street is crowded with more than 200 food joints offering asian cuisine from Japan to India. Different fruits are also available

    Affordable local food
Good place for local food at affordable prices. Place can get pretty crowded on weekends and rowdy. Locals will tell you it is a place for tourists but do see quite fair bit of locals dining there too.

The joy of Asian food street scape.
A very vibrant and bright attack on the senses. From the aroma of delightful Asian dishes to the not so pleasant waft of durian fruit. This place has you covered for any number of food choices. And the location is very central to the city, we stayed at the parkroyal and this was only a few minutes walk. Though cutting through some back lane ways did make the wife nervous. Stick to the main streets, well lit and plenty of security.

A feast of food, culture and sights
We visited the food market twice, and ate amazing food for £50 for four adults...for everything...drinks, food, the lot. You have to be careful as fish on a stall that has been there all day you just wouldn't touch, but we had japanese one night and chicken fish and stingray another. A must visit.

    Night Market
Very long street with hundreds of shops and restaurants both sides. This is Jalan Alor or Night Market. Mainly Chinese and having the shops in this area. You can do a good foot massage in one of many places in here.

Located a short walk from the Bukit Bintang monorail station, Jalan Alor is a dining experience not to be missed. The street comes alive after dark, offering an array of seafood and other dining options. Take your pick from the numerous restaurants offering seating on the street, or just browse the many market stalls.

A good cheap dining alternative to the many restaurants and bars on offer. We enjoyed ourselves so much the first night we came back the next night also.

Must see experience in Bukit Bintang area. Atmosphere at night especially after 8-9pm is crowded and busy. Lots of tourists and few locals, and yes expensive for Malaysia but for convenience and access it is awesome at least once if in area.
For durian lovers have a number of stalls, and for convenience and high exchange rate it is very good. If you can get to SS2 or other suburban durian markets this will be cheaper but for holiday access and if not on a tight budget, go for it!

The food here is quite diverse, the restaurant staff invite guests quite enthusiastically.
But the food here is extremely expensive (I bought 5 grilled skewers for RM 44 and a smoothie for RM 10) but they taste extremely bad while this is just a food street. Meanwhile, I went to eat at the Food Court at Suria KLCC Mall and the price was much cheaper and more delicious (A bowl of noodles was only RM 13 and a glass of milk tea was only RM 8.9). Besides, this street is too crowded, the hygiene on this street is quite bad, they are quite dirty and and can be affected by the weather (very inconvenient if it rains). If you stay at Suria KLCC, it will be very clean, there will be regular cleaning staff and you can watch the Petronas tower or the colorful water music at the lake.
Therefore, I recommend going to Food Court in Mall instead of Jalan Alor Food Street

This place has been promoted as a must-visit hawker street for tourists. Unfortunately, the food sold here do not represent Malaysian food. When you come here, you’re going to see restaurants serving Thai food (which you can get in Bangkok), Chinese food (which you can get from China, Hong Kong or Taiwan), or Korean food (which you will get from, yes, South Korea). Just look at the red tanglung hanging, you’d think you’re in China right? So where can you get true, authentic Malaysian food? Go to Kampung Baru. It’s a modern-day village selling authentic Malaysian food. Find these food to try: Nasi Lemak, Rendang, Laksa, Bihun Sup, Asam Pedas, Satay with Kuah Kacang, Lontong, Mee Rebus, Mee Kari, Mee Goreng Mamak, Roti Canai, Nasi Ayam, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Char Koey Teow, Wantan Mee, Pan Mee, Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang. However, if you see Nasi Geprek, Ayam Penyet, Bakso, Soto - these are all Indonesian food. Better go next door (Indonesia) and try the real ones for these. Enjoy!

A short street with local/Chinese restaurants, fruits/juice store. Had a dinner at 黄亚华小食店,food tastes good but no customer service. Afyer dinner, ate durian at the alley opposite 黄亚华,that durian store clean and cosy. Can see most customers on the streets are tourists 😁
There's a Chinese Beef Roti at the Connor of the street, long queue from morning until night. We've queue for more than half an hour for 2 beef roti, crispy on the outside skin and tender inside and the beef filling very juicy. The rest every food you can skip but the beef roti must try.

Jalan Alor is an outdoor food market stall area with a variety of restaurants selling Malaysian, Thai, Indian, Chinese, fresh fruit, nuts, fruit drinks, soft drinks, beer and wine. Was extremely busy when we attended and not good if you don’t like crowds. Food was ok mainly stir fried dishes, fresh seafood or meats/chicken grilled over coals. Can get Smokey depending on where you sit.

Lots of fun. Many restaurants to choose from - all seem similar. We avoided the ones with too many tourists and looked for locals eating. Food was good, beers were in big bottles - not chilled so arrived in a big bucket of ice. Good for people watching.

Jalan Alor is a street with many restaurants. You can find Malaysian food there, but also dishes from other nearby regions (Vietnam, China, etc.). Most of the restaurants have outdoor seating, while others are indoors, and some are just stalls where you can grab something to eat. It's truly spectacular. It's a delight to taste Malaysian food in this way.
