A really interesting trip, not just the island itself but the boat trip out to it which passes under the Megami Ohashi Bridge and near the Mitsubishi ship yard. Although we visited it on a bright and sunny day, there is something a little bit...More

This is a very rare place to visit. I had never seen anything like it. If you visit in the middle of summer it can get very hot so make sure not to get a heat stroke. Note that there is very little shadow on...More

Rewarding day at this modern post apocalyptic site. Totally abandoned island which has been left to the elements since 1974. Amazing experiences here.

We came here on a Tuesday morning during our cruise stop here. I made the booking well beforehand (about 3 months ago) through japanican. The booking said that the port where the boat will go to the island will leave from Nagasaki Port Terminal. So,...More

The trip is very organised , perhaps too organised. You are allowed to walk on one side of the island, on a wooden path and not distance yourself not even 2 m from group. So all the rest you have to leave for your imagination....

Also known as Gunkanjima or (‘battleship island’ – so named because of its ship-like silhouette), was seen in the 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall. It was originally a huge Coal mine with over 5000 people working on the 1000 metre by 500 metre piece of...More

Day we went was a little cool and overcast but almost made the setting more surreal. Ferry ride to island. We had an adorable older Japanese gentleman who took the 7 English speakers on our own tour group. He gave us hints on where to...More

Hi, can anyone tell me whether there is a tour company that will allow a 3 year old on their tour of Hashima Island? The Gunkanjima concierge won't allow us to book with our 3 year old son. Thanks.

The museum is not in the island. There're 2 museums, one in Nomo Cape and the other near old HSBC building.
