Dotonbori is a large pedestrian area in downtown Osaka. The area is filled with restaurants, retail outlets and amusement facilities, very happening especially at night. Do try the ubiquitous Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki available there.
Wow..what a great place to walk around to see all the action and Times Square like surroundings but with a funkier playful edge

Went during the day and did not experience the neon lights. It was very touristy, filled with visiting Chinese tour groups. The only good about it was lots of traditional Japanese restaurants and street snacks. It is difficult to know which are the good ones...More
You have the impression that millions of japanese come together here to stroll around , to shop and to hang out...Many good shopping opportunities , and some really good restaurants , even though somewhat pricey....
This district is rich in bright lights and bustling atmosphere. A long stretch of all types of shops (all the big brands) as well as local fare and every type of restaurant.
Obviously best to experience at night.

Went to Osaka for the first time, so I guess I had to come here to see the Glico running man billboard. But other than that, it's just a shopping street you can find in a lot of tourist places.
