We got the english audio guides, but the friendly ladies at the information desk also furnished us with a file of information of the various exhibits in english. Hence, even though most exhibits were in japanese, we were still able to understand the local context and...More

We went here and got the English audio guides but despite these found it too much like hard work and left half way round. There is very little written in English and the audio guide speaks really slowly and takes too long to impart a...More

This is a very important museum, unfortunately the exhibition is quite messy and unorganized (probably due to cut fundings). Audioguide available, but will not help much, more info in the (outdated?) booklet you will recive together with the audioguides. There is still a lot of...More

Very nice museum with important themes. Little information in English, there's and audio guide and some subtitled films. I bet if you read Japonese it's a lot more interesting.

You might not find this in the guide books but it is definitely worth a visit. Really interesting and gives a real insight into another aspect of Japan.

This museum got high recommendations online and we were very much looking forward to it, being very interested in the Ainu, Burakumin, etc. In retrospect, we should have skipped it entirely. The displays are aimed at primary school children, and seemed to be designed accordingly....More

Most interesting and important themes, but the fact that the information in English is scant, really left me wanting for more. The exhibit is well displayed, well documented, but almost all in Japanese. I wished I could read that language, as I was missing something...More
