Definitely worth the visit if you are into Japan history. Understand how the whole clan ruled and evolved through detailed timelines. There is a feature on various battles which the Sanada participated.

Most interesting museum and the story of the all powerful Sanada clan who built the castle and established the castle town and samurai precinct

Matsushiro was possibly more popular than it usually is when we visited it, thanks to the NHK drama 'Sanada Maru', currently airing on TV. The exhibition at the museum was in relation to the drama. The Japanese are are proud people and amongst the proudest were the samurai class that were in a way the upper class of feudal Japan. The Sanada museum is a beautifully restored residence which portrays the exclusive life the lords of the time lived.
