View is great

There's nothing of the city, you can't see form here. Entrance fee shouldn't be higher (in my opinion), and a bit more organization at the lifts would be appreciated.

This is a great view platform but for me the greatest thing was using it as a reference point. I had a place close to the tower so when I was out I would just look for the tower to orient myself and it helped so much when I was navigating around kyoto. It's next to kyoto station as well.

Although the entrance to the tower was hard to find due to construction, we're very happy we found the place. Not only was the view great, there is an information center there. All the maps and information you need is provided free of charge. They will also offer personal favorite restaurant if you ask.

I went here with my wife. This place is very close to Kyoto Station, about 3-5 minutes walk only. It offers the best scenery of Kyoto. The good thing, they provided restroom at the top level :-) Kyoto Tower had a small souvenir shop with reasonable price. This place must be visited when you are in Kyoto.

We came by just before it was closing. Since we had come from Tokyo and seen the night skyline from the skytree, the skyline of Kyoto wasn't as impressive. It was quite different seeing the orange cage around the observation deck. What I did notice was that there were plenty of blacked out regions around the city, presumably the myriad... More

During my stay in Kyoto I booked a room at the Kyoto Tower Hotel. I had a great night sleep. They have a very nice coffee machine and mugs with the tower mascot. It cost a little to go with the elevator to go upstair and you don't go very high but the experience was fantastic.

This place is excellent. You should consider this as a first stop if you are not sure what you want to see in Kyoto. Really good views, interesting articles all in English. Really good value

After visited the Tokyo sky tree, Osaka skyline it wasn't seems to be too attractive for me. But if you are in very first time to visit such kind of architecture then surely it gives you a pleasure.

Came up Kyoto tower early evening. Small line, but crowd moved quickly with friendly staff coordinating. A few minute elevator ride to top of Kyoto tower. Great views across city and can see buildings in Osaka (50kms away). Good interactive maps and you can read facts about significant landmarks, places.

The views were amazing. It's quite expensive and once you've walked around and had a look there isn't much else to do. If you look closely you can see literally everything so that can provide some enjoyment.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
