Very and I really mean very crowded little shopping street. Nevertheless great entrance to the temple complex itself. If you like a less crowded approach take one entrance road to the south which goes via a cementary.

A "traditional" village crowded with tourists, selling local items/ souvenirs. Very authentic, very Japanese. It always amazes us how beautiful Japanese products are- the attention to details & quality are totally unbelievable. A nice experience that should not missed when in Kyoto.
