Really lovely place. I had better than expected experience here. The room was nice. The view was spectacular. The pool was great. The host, and the staff are very warm, and welcoming. For the price that I paid, I would have stay an extra night. Will definitely back next time I'm in town.

Great place to stay. A bit stark as far as decor goes, but what a beautiful, relaxing place to be. From the hot outdoor unisex baths you look up at masses of pine trees on the mountainsides. You can easily spend an hour or two in these hot tubs just contemplating life and the beauty of your surroundings. The hotel... More

I decided to go with my friend to Kurama on the day a heavy snow fell down in Kyoto. It's really a rare view since you don't see kind of Kurama mountain covered with white layers of snow everyday. Taking a relaxing moment at the Kurama onsen proves to be a good choice since it helps you to regain your... More

Stayed one night in Kurama Onsen to enjoy the natural onsen and experience a traditional Japanese dinner and ryokan. Beautiful village with a lovely temple area, absolutely magical in the snow. Easy 1HR travel via train from Kyoto. Kurama Onsen is open to the public for 1,000yen per visit but we chose to stay there for the night in the... More

Located close from Kyoto, this Onsen was the highlight of our entire Japan trip. Great weather and a gorgeous view of the sunset from the outdoor baths. Highly recommended!

We booked for the full day cost 2,500 each. The cheaper 1,000 yen would have been better. Indoor spa was clean but small. Outdoor spa was clean small but was a good experience and very relaxing. We had lunch, overpriced but fresh. The relaxation lounge was big but why have a tv on? Confusing and bright lights. Overall it was... More

First time experience at an onsen was great! Would hoped to have experienced it longer but time did not permit. Took train there and a free shuttle bus from the train station which comes every 3-5mins

We took a train from Sakyo-ku to Kibune and did a hiking to Kurama by passing by Kurama Temple. When reached Kurama, we took an icon photo with a big long nose 'Tengku' which is one of the Japanese mythical creature . After had a lunch in a small Japanese style restaurant , we continue walking towards to Kurama Onsen.... More

After walking some hours on Mount Kurama, it was really a good treat to soak in the warm water. Since I was there in autumn the leaves were really beautiful. It was great to watch the leaves while enjoying the hot water.

I am reviewing only the spa, there is a ryokan nearby (japanese style hotel) but we did not go there. The pool features a very small rotenburo (open air spa), lost in the woods near Kyoto. Don't expect great service or a red carpet center, the spa is quite "basic" but it's got all that it needs to get you... More
