Large complex with incredible gardens. Was here in a downpour. The garden colors were fantastic in the rain. The Hojo, Abbot's hall was a nice respite from the juggle of umbrellas. Nice rock and moss sections as well as the riot of colors and views...More

This is an easy side trip from the Inari Shrine, both on the JR Nara Line. Beautiful gardens and amazing colors as the leaves were turning all different kinds of colors a week or so ago when I visited. This is a nice spot to...More

This temple is rated as one of the top sites to visit during autumn and it's clear to see why. Beautiful autumn colours surround the temple grounds.

The temple is mainly visited for its gardens. In the autumn, the maple tress have the most beautiful colours. The temple is a short walk from the train station - just follow the crowds.

Tofukuji is famous for its autumn colours and, although I went when they were really just starting, it was still very pretty. The buildings are quite impressive too. While the general grounds are free, there is an admission fee for the Tsutenkyo bridge and surrounds,...More

The trees around this temple turn red during the fall and makes it one of the most beautiful places in Kyoto. The temple area is not large and becomes overcrowded easily during fall time. Still is a place worth visiting because of its beautiful scenery....More

Very distinctive architecture. The grounds are an attraction in themselves and boast free access. Spend an hour.

I was so happy to see some colors while I was there, but I know this temple is going to be stunning in a couple of weeks. There is a fee to enter the temple grounds, but it is so worth it! They also charge...More

This is an amazing place, with all of the temples and carefully manicured grounds you'd expect from Kyoto. There's plenty to see for free if you choose. I only paid to enter the gardens with the bridge which was very nice, offers great views of...More

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist
attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens,
temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for
strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the

There’s very few stairs. There’s a lot to see without going up the steps. To get inside one of the temples there are a few steps, however, I don’t think it should be much of an issue.

There are many flights of steps to get to the temple. Some of the pavement are laid with gravels. Suggest you carry your baby in a sling.
