Narrow lane with so many restaurants and pubs, where the authentic Japanese food will be served. Lot of tourists but always nice to walk through during day and evening.

We went at dusk as the lights were coming on which made it extra special. Beautiful long laneway with alleys and lovely views and glimpses. I imagine it's very close to what old Japan looked like.

Lovely old part of town. Loads of restaurants to choose from. We came here on our trip in November. The area is very traditional with lovely narrow streets and lots of lovely buildings.

Can get variety Japanese restaurant along the street where with fair price . Lots of local people visit there for them dinner and happy hour. Must try because it's the place you can get local taste and living style of local Kyoto people have.

Nice old buildings on narrow streets. Just steps away from Gion district. Unfortunately did not get to experience it at night which seems to be the best time.

A whole stretch of eateries but the prices there are quite steep. If you have more budget you can try at one of the many restaurants there. I think it will be quite a good experience

Real tiny alley next to the river full of restaurants serving kobe/wagyu steaks and various seafood dishes. They also have tiny shops selling art work. This area is where the Geishas were known to hang out before. You might even get lucky to see one.

Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow
street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's
busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls,
Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and
bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly
