This shrine honours an 'onmyou' (principles of Yin and Yang) scholar of the Heian period, Abeno Seimei. The shrine was established in 1007, at the site of what had been his house. It is said to ward off evil.

This shrine has some interesting attractions - objects to touch that bring you good luck. You'll see people stroking a peach, or a stone or hugging a huge tree. Really funny!
