I enjoyed the hike the Mt. Daimonji. The hike is not super hard, but still, if you are not trained it could be hard. Have enough water with you and be prepared to walk up a lot of steep stairs. Once you arrived the "top", you will find your self in the middle of a big kanji (chinese character). They... More

Easy to hike. I just liked the fact that birds were flying near to us that i could see ravens hunting mice and flying back with them xD

Pretty easy walk, last part with the stairs is the hardest but still achievable if you are a regular exerciser. Great view and great way to finish a day of sight seeing.

Took about 50 mins going up as I wasn't very fit. Views from the top were well worth the 'pain'! Highly recommend to those who are not keen on the commercialized stuff. One of the highlights of my Kyoto visit!

I highly recommend you take this uphill trail. My family love nature and hiking. It took us about an hour and a half going up to the top because we spent to much time taking Autumn maple trees in one beautiful spot. We were so lucky to see Autumn maple even on December 4, 2015. No toilet, Dress light, wear... More

This attraction has not many tourists. Why? Is a mystery to me. In the hills behind the silver pavilion are one of kyotos must hidden gems... You must take this trip if you just have a tiny adventure in you or if you just want a nature experience in the vibrant city of Kyoto, the walk to the top ain't... More

This is definitely worth the hike. The views are great and the hike gives you a great appreciation of the forested mountains around Kyoto.

Tuck away in a little entrance near Ginkanku-ji temple, this mountain offers an easy half hour climb up for some great views of Kyoto. The hike itself is under shaded trees and is very pleasant even in summer. Bring some sandwiches and drinks for a mini picnic at the top. The level you reach will form the horizontal stroke from... I skipped Ginkaku-ji temple at the base of this hike, and opted for the 1 hour climb to the top of the mountain, where the view of Kyoto was amazing. It is steep but the trail is good. There are a lot of steps, but I saw trekkers of all ages on the route. If you need a few hours... More
