Most people were respectful and quiet so it was possible to just be, even with many others around. A soft autumn rain added to the experience. Be sure to walk around the grounds. Many beautiful vistas.

A short walk away from the popular Kinkakuji temple. This is a must see when in the area. The rock garden is stunning. I felt very relaxed and reflective when here. Also it was nice to see inside the main part of the temple which...More

We were totally in awe of this garden with the 15 rocks. It has a magical quality that will make you stop and ponder the significance of the design. The wisdom within the simplicity of this garden is beautiful.

The grounds of the temple are amazing. It is worth taking some time to see more than the temple. The stone garden is really cool and people are totally respectful and quiet, which makes you actually feel relaxed and sort of understand how it was...More

Hot springs and historic temples characterize the
leafy landscapes of Northern Kyoto. Acres of tranquil
residential streets are interrupted by some of Kyoto's
most gorgeous architectural gems, including the
majestic Golden Pavilion of Kinkakuji, the serene
artistry of the Ryoanji Temple rock gardens, and the
bold red paint across the structures of Enryakuji
Temple. Once a religious core of the city, the
