Beautiful area, amazing bamboo forest, very serine. The small town is within walking distance worth spending a couple of days there.

Worth a visit, the bamboo forest is so nice, downside is there are plenty of other people admiring the same thing. Not really relaxing experience. So would recommend visiting early in the morning, or night to get a little bit more magic out of this...More

A visit to the Bamboo grove / forest in Sagano is worth all the effort. We went in summer and were impressed. I can imagine how much more beautiful it would be in season

Too many tourists, but like always in Japan, manicured nature... There was an extremely nice and humble Cafe where we had lunch.

It is touristy place but worth for having a nice walk through the bamboo forest. Along the walk , there are some temples as well as some people selling hand made souvenirs Paintings etc. Recommended.

It takes about 15 min fit hiker time. The way is marked. Walk out of the station to main road turn left and keep walking till you can see the railroad crossing and turn left. You walk about 7 min to where you see some stores... More
