You can try park the car up to the gate where they stop people from driving, instead of the carpark which costs 500 yen and further away, since police rarely comes here, according to locals.

I was there around 18:45 to 19:00. It was perfect wonderful view point more than Mt. Rokko. Absolutely, beautiful!!!!

Mt. Maya has one of the best view of Kobe and Osaka. When it is fine you can see Kansai Airport or Awaji Island. If you stay Kobe long, I would recommend to become a member of supporter of Maya View line. I costs you...More

You can have a beautiful view on the landscape of Kobe and Osaka. The park is not crowded, I think not many tourists flood to this place yet. Getting to the cable car can be quite a challenge as there is not much info provided...More

All said about the beautiful views. I can also recommend Mt Maya a to start a hike alongside Kobe. I combined Mt Maya and the nunobiki gardens and waterfalls into a nice 6 hrs hike (could be made less using the cable cars). Walking up...More

the place to be, for a whole view of the city. From the Mt Maya you can see the mountain around, the city and downtown and also the harbour area and sea bey. Recommended at night time or snow season.

Just an FYI that the cable car and ropeway are closed and will reopen on Saturday, 03/04/17. If you're going to Kobe, maybe consider sticking around the harbor area near Kobe station instead of going all the way to Shin Kobe.
