Visited during the annual snow festival this year. It blew my mind! The sculptures were amazing, so much work had gone into them, and a lot of them were massive taking weeks to build, and the detail was astounding. Lots of food and drink stalls, activities, and easy public transport to access the park.

Feb 11, 2017 was the last day of Snow Festival at Odori. It was very crowded and the heavy snowing on the night. We enjoyed this festival whenever 1st day arrival Sapporo. Ensure your outfits for walking in winter season especially the shoes for not slippery. The even itself usually a week towards the winter season. The admission is free... More

Odori Park is located just a few minutes walk from Sapporo Clock Tower. We didn't really do much except walk around in the snow-covered paths.

Night time viewing was well worth the cold weather (well it was winter...!!). The lights were simply stunning and at least twice each evening the lights are all turned off - plunging the park into almost complete darkness - and then with a countdown is held and the park is re-illuminated. There was a photo shoot with some kawaii-style J-Pop... More

We were there on 28th Feb and walked pass the area 2nd March. Not a good time to be there as they were clearing the snow and whatever that were there. Nothing there at all except some snow and bare trees. Wrong timing I guess.

The park looks lovely esp during winter. Various vendors sell local goods and food in the park at night in gingerbread- house-style stores. Clean and well-maintained.

Well worth visiting. We were in Harbin the previous week so it was interesting to also visit this smaller festival. Surprised how commercialised Sapporo's version was. As it is only set up for about 1 week I know that they have to cover costs. You need ice grippers on your boots to safely walk around on the ice.
