The observatory is located at the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum, which was a blast! The museum highlights both winter Olympics that have been held in Japan and there are a lot of interactive exhibits. You can practice ski jumping, bobsledding, being a hockey goalie and speed skating. So much fun! We also rode the lift up to the top of... More

To get there you have to reach the Maruyama Koen subway station (T06 – Tozai Line) and go straight to the bus station ( Exit n.2). Here you’ll find bus n. 14 terminus, from here it’s an 8 minutes trip to the Okurayama Kyojigo Iriguchi bus stop. After alighting, cross the road and walk uphill to the right, then turn... More

We visited the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium (or 大倉山シャンツェ) on a Sunday afternoon. As we were behind schedule, we decided to purchase chair lift tickets only (about ¥500) and to skip the Winter Olympics museum. At the top, there was an open-air observation deck with clear, unobstructed views overlooking the city. You also have the chance to see first-hand how... More

'An elevated view of Sapporo and Winter Sport (Ski Jump)' Experience: Having visited during Feb just before the Asian Winter Games, the visit has been enhanced by having a really good insight of the ongoing preparation works and local athletes practicing their jumps. As someone experiencing Winter/Ski for the very first time, this visit, in particular the chairlift has been... More

We went during the December winter period. The weather was very cold as we went up to the TOP. Almost freeezing! The view is spectacular too!

Okurayama Observatory and Ski Jump Stadium is an enjoyable (and in our case, snow-filled) 10-20 minute uphill walk from the bus stop. When we got to the stadium, we were awed by the huge place! We ran straight to the cable car ride up to the observatory. Up there, we were rewarded by an awesome full view of Sapporo! An... More

The view was great because of all the snow, and it was amazing to see just how steep the slope is. I'm glad I went, but I probably won't go again. No need, right.

It was a nice experience to see the ski slope. The view up on the hill top was beautiful. The snow actually makes it extra special.
