This natural island was only about 38 meters high and was linking with the city by Bai Causeway on the east and an arched bridge to the north. The place was full of cultural and historical sites including the Provincial Museum. Strolling around Chung Shan Park of Solidary Hill was easy except in public holidays where the place was full... This mountain or hill, is a part of the West Lake. On the way to the hill, you will pass a very beautiful park, called 孤山公园 (Gu Shan Park). The view is very nice. Perfect for strolling :)

I'm not sure if it's the season in which I came, but it was relatively quiet on Gushan (Solitary Hill). The view was misty but still very beautiful. I'd definitely come back to see the museum (free admission) and other sights located on this "Solitary Hill." You can take a bus, the fare is $2RMB, "Y10" to and from here... More

Gu Shan (Solitary Hill) is a island treasure trove of Chinese culture and history. It is in the north of Hangzhou's west lake, and is the only natural island - the others being man-made. It is accessible by the Bai Causeway from the north of the lake, or by a small stone arched bridge from Beishan Road in the north... More

I don’t see why this place is rated as high as it is. The terrain was ok but it’s just like the rest of the lake. I usually take photos but didn’t see the point for doing so at this location. I just find it funny that the name is Solitary Hill and we were here during Golden Week (An... More

The Solitary Hill offers a nice view on the lake and it is not very crowded. That is if you actually climb the hill and walk trough the woods in the center of the small island. The outer parts are more crowded, so to say. Enjoyed the nature and the various small buildings that can be discovered, quite a relaxing... More

Quite a nice and big area especially the park under Gu Shan which is very quiet and you could easily sit there for a long time. Gu Shan has several areas to see - one was the Remains of the Liaoyao Pavilion from the Qing Dynasty. It's pretty cool.

The Solitary Hill is less than 40 meters high. It is a part of the West Lake scenic area and a natural island. There is a park in it named Zhongshan Park. Covered with verdant trees, the environment of the hill is very tranquil and very beautiful. Besides, it boasts some cultural sites and is a nice place to wander... More
