this isn't really a separate attraction, it is a area of cliff carvings leading up to the formal entrance of the temple. But the carvings are very old and interesting, and there are lots of paths to explore - it's a fun area (would be great for older kids to explore too).

It was a discovery for me to see how Buddhism linked India and China. The statues are true relics over a 1000 years old. The walks are calm and zenful and one can easily spend couple of hours in this place without feeling lost :)

In a beautiful natural setting on the side of the hill with a small river, the stone carvings are just amazing. The Lingyin temple is right next to the carvings. There are walking tracks through the forest and up the hill. Great place to visit. We were there on a cold say, which may have kept the crowds away. Easy... More

Best spot in Hangzhou and it's taken me 3 months to get here. This is definitely where India meets China and gives you a good sense of the Buddhism links. The statues are true relics over a 1000 years old. Peaceful zen walk and hike with three other temples nearby. Worth spending a full day. Completely beautiful and green. And... More

The carvings in the mountain side are very impressive. Fei Lai Feng blends right into the Lingyin Temple it would be difficult to see where one ends and the other picks up if not for the ticket booth. Both are a Hangzhou Must

Second only to the West Lake - this mountain has fantastic carvings and an interesting trail to the top. Make sure to take a picture in the cave next to the famous laughing Buddha.
