Unfortunately didn't have a lot of time to explore the city wall but the views of downtown Xi'an are incredible from the top. Highly recommended!

We spent the morning, visiting the city walls of Xian, and I heard that this is one of the most complete restored city walls in China. There are four gates, north, east, south and west gates, where you could get up onto the city walls. Most tourists access the city walls near the South gate where it is also closest... More

It could be imagined how the war was waged at the time. The protection was carefully planned and executed to last for so long that we could be witnesses to it at our present time.

We went to the south gate and walked around while getting some great photos of the moat and the city of Xi'an. Despite the perfect weather the wall was not crowded. Definitely worth a visit! Some people rented bikes but we just had a nice stroll.

A nice piece of history and a good way to burn off all the good food you have been eating. Hire a bike or walk and set off for an interesting walk. Can be hot in summer as there is no shade would be better to go early.

You enter by one of the four gates, and have to cross very busy multiple lane roads with no crosswalks to reach the entrance, then pay to enter. But it is marvelous walking or biking along the walls, looking out at neighborhoods, the moat and park along the way

If you love history this was the old capital of china before Beijing up until few hundred years ago- the place is well maintained. We rented a bicycle and cycled around the wall. Excellent option if you're that way inclined. Enjoy the views and the sight seeing Don't forget your selfie stick

The city wall is a very nice place to visit while in Xi'an. When we went, it was not crowded at all, which was a nice reprieve from the other sites.

While there are many places in the world that have similar concept, i.e. Have ancient city walls, Xi'an city wall is the 2nd most popular attractions of the city after terracotta warriors. Hence it is a must see site. What made our visit more interesting was the bike ride on the wall.
