The Xian city walls are great! In every sense of the word. They are absolutely massive, and they are really well restored. I had visited Xian a couple of months prior to coming there on holiday with my three teenage kids. During that visit I...More

The view from the wall is worth seeing but I would recommend seeing it during the evening when the lights are on, as during the day the view is less attractive and also during summer pretty hot. I also do NOT recommend buying tickets for...More

Together with the muslim wall one of the best attraction the city has to offer I really recommend to rent a bike, moderate price and you get it for 3 hours which is ample time to cover it! Small deposit in cash which you they...More

Thankfully the city wall still exists as so much of the city areas have been knocked down and rebuilt. I loved how clean it was and the historical information that was on display and it made you want to reflect back to those manning the...More

Although the wall itself is impressive, the view from the top was marred by all the ugly buildings surrounding it. However when we passed it at night, it was beautifully lit up giving the whole area a far more attractive aspect.

Yes the ancient city walls are an impressive architectural achievement but once at the top there isn’t really much to see! Might be different at night when the light show is on. Only needs 30mins tops

We went here twice, both times cycling around the walls to look down over the city. It's bumpy and a long ride, but such fun, and a unique way to see the city. Highly recommended and quite surreal to be up there quite isolated from...More

We rented a couple of bicycles and rode the wall. This was great fun and given the sometimes crazy traffic in China a wonderful opportunity for peaceful danger free biking. Beware though that bicycles are not the most comfortable

You cannot believe this wall of protection for the inner city that was build so many years ago. When you walk to the top and see what has been constructed and its massive size, you just stand there in awe!

Yes, you can rent helmets when you rent your bike. You need a cash deposit to rent the helmets and bikes. I didn’t rent a helmet and it was ok. The wall can get busy with all the bikes but it is a fairly smooth ride.

Open all the time! You now have to pay to go there. Not expensive like 10 US dollars. You can even rent bike to ride around. It is about 15 km around. Very nice!
