Xian was the starting point for the chinese silk road and the walls and sentry points/gates live up to that expectation.Excellent.

We went early in the morning and found this very peaceful. If we had more time we would have rented a bike and gone round more of it. Good level of sign posting and well kept.

We took the electric cart ride on the wall as we were pressed for time and had a tummy bug issue otherwise Would loves to have hired bikes to go around . Really worth doing as you can see so much of the city ....More

At 42 degrees (celcius) at the end of July, possibly not the coolest times to visit Xian, however the city wall was fascinating.

We biked the whole wall one afternoon around 2:30. The bikes are kind of beat up but get the job done. The afternoon can get very hot with no shade in August. If you are not in biking shape i would suggest taking the golf...More

Yes, you can rent helmets when you rent your bike. You need a cash deposit to rent the helmets and bikes. I didn’t rent a helmet and it was ok. The wall can get busy with all the bikes but it is a fairly smooth ride.

Once you leave you cannot renter. It’s very inexpensive to get in around 8 US dollars. I would recommend renting the bikes it’s a lot of fun and you can ride at your own pace. Stopping and viewing the city it’s beautiful.

Open all the time! You now have to pay to go there. Not expensive like 10 US dollars. You can even rent bike to ride around. It is about 15 km around. Very nice!
