With all the reds and yellows of the lights this was a great photo op. Never made it when it was open to see but from the outside it was beautiful

For the history, drop by and view where the drum rolls to signify end of day during the 14th century.

Take a walk through the city to the gate. See the drum tower then continue along the moat to the next gate. Safe walk and very pleasant.

Very impressive tour, a pitty it was so hard to find out the timetables for hearing the drums. Very nice illuminated to.

This was a great tower to visit. If you stick around, they actually do a drum performance that's really nice. You can purchase a combo ticket for the Bell tower and Drum tower that's a good deal.

We visited the tower area several times. Later in the day seems less crowded and we spent time just looking at the drums and the various displays. Plenty of photo opportunities.

Here you'll see 24 drums representing 24 solar terms and one other big drum listed on Guiness record.

This tower has concerts throughout the day on the bottom floor but if you don't have time to wait, the rest of the tower provides some interesting musical exhibits and upstairs some furniture exhibition from the Qing dynasty. No need to spend much time here....More

Combine this with a visit to the Bell Tower - after all, they're only steps apart. But go at night, when they're both lit up. Lots of other tourist-friendly attractions nearby as well.

The central part of old Xi'an is very impressive and so is also the drum tower. A must when in Xi'an!

I found my pic on Tripadvisor. The performance times are 9:10, 10:00, 11:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00. Be 30 minutes early as seats are very limited.

I thought I would follow this up... obviously I checked the various websites for this attraction and got contradictory information. That's why I was asking for clarification here. Anyway, I just got back from Xi'an and both... More
