A weird title I know, but bear with me. The buildings and ornate decorations are impressive in themselves but what made this place an incredible experience was the hand painted art in one of the shops at the back. They bloke only used the side...More

The weather was very warm and we were glad we made the visit despite the heat. The old house was sprawling with beautiful wood carvings and garden, certain rooms were turned into exhibition halls where you can learn how the Cantonese families used to live.

Especially hand made figures on roofs is worth to see. Old style chinese furnitures, well maintained garden and sweet small trees are very enjoyable and interesting. If in guangzhou, must be seen.

Very unique art work here, which you can enjoy watching them do while you wait. If you have a lot of Chinese calligraphy that you want done they can deliver to your local hotel. Some stuff: chat stamps, tapestries, and hand/finger painted scenery.

Take the Metro Line 1 to "Chen Jia Ci"(陈家祠), which is the spelling according to pronunciation in Mandarin of "Chen Clan Ancestral Hall". It is just minutes walk from metro station.
