Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Round Tower is a Middle Ages tower located in Rynochnaya Square, in the center of Vyborg, a city in the North of the Russian Federation, near the border with Finland. It is really big and width (not high) and you can enter to visit this tower and go to the restaurant, where you can eat regional food for dinner and lunch. A very nice visit.

I'm always a bit disappointed when historical buildings are turned into things like restaurants. It sits on one side of a parkplatz.

A fairly historic but relatively unimpressive building originally built to guard the borders of the town. It’s been in existence for just shy of five hundred years.
Didn’t go inside to investigate any further as it’s now a restaurant and bar inside.

The round tower has some very interesting history. It appeared in remarkably good condition. It now houses a restaurant / bar . It is a small historical stone tower and will not take long to explore

The round tower immediately evoked associations with the Fat Margaret Tower in Tallinn. Having heard from my classmate that the tower is called Tolstoy Ekaterina, I was even more convinced of this comparison, although, of course, there is no connection between them. The tower, completely unlike the Vyborg Castle, is a consequence of the evolution of fortification art: the walls, vulnerable to artillery, became smaller in height and thicker. The name of the round tower suggests that the builders hoped to reduce the destructive power of artillery by ricocheting. In a century they will begin to build bastions with inclined walls and generally return to earthen ramparts. This tower is one of the two surviving towers of the fortress walls of Vyborg. In 1609, the so-called Vyborg treaty between the Swedish king Charles IX and Vasily Shuisky on military assistance in the fight against the Poles of False Dmitry in exchange for the concession to the Swedes of the Korela fortress and the surrounding district. The deal was controversial, and Delagardi’s mercenaries could not be kicked out of Rus' for many years. The military significance of the tower ended after the capture of Vyborg by Peter I. Then, in order not to demolish the tower, they used it as a warehouse, storing everything there: from ammunition to medicine. Now we have returned to the idea of the Finns of the 20th century and created a restaurant there. Tourist-oriented, and therefore controversial in terms of quality.

Nice restaurant in an atmospheric historical place, but sometimes you have to wait a long time for your order. The quality of the food is good, restaurant prices.
