About
Our War Museum is located at the territory of Central barracks in the historical part of Vyborg. The museum includes the following expositions: -Museum "Women at war" (Building 1) -Diorama "At that infamous war" (Building 6) -Weaponry hall (Building 1) -Exhibition of propaganda leaflets of wartime (Building 1) "Women at war" tells about the impact of soviet girls into the victory in the Great Patriotic war (1941-1945). "At that infamous war" is the biggest diorama devoted to Winter war (1939-1940) and tells about 4 Soviet heroes of that war. Both expositions were created due to Presidential Grants Fund. At the hall of weaponry it is allowed to take the presented riffles and try on the uniform. You can also watch the biggest collection of Finnish propaganda leaflets in Russia. It is also possible to take photos on the territory of the museum (included in the price of tickets). Welcome!

The museum is a work in progress, organized and maintained by a group of enthusiasts interested in both Vyborg's history and the Winter War. As of June 18, the museum featured a pretty massive diorama (which was not there when I last visited about a year ago). The tour guide/director is a true history buff, speaking excellent English. The two highlights for me were the small but growing section on women's role in the Great Patriotic War and a hands-on exhibit of the most common small arms of WWII.
Highly recommended - especially since MonRepos is unlikely to get back in shape for at least another couple of years, this museum can become the highlight of one's visit to Vyborg.

The museum has moved to Ulitsa Krepostnaja 26, former army houses. Interesting pictures in wall windows outside.

Two-floor building containing items like weaponry, propaganda posters and books from Finland-USSR wars 1939-1940 (Winter war) and 1941-1944 ("continuation war"). It's worth visit if you speak either Russian or Finnish (or book a tour) as usually Russians don't mention Winter war anywhere in their history museums as it's not part of great Patriotic war... Small entrance fee.
