About
A small craft beer bar and (takeaway) store in the very centre of St. Petersburg, hiding in a basement just 30 metres off the city's main street, Nevsky prospect. Twelve taps and dozens of bottled Russian and European brews with a special accent on local craft beer and new experimental sorts. Instead of tables or bar stools, a wooden amphitheater with cushions for comfort provides seating. Carefully picked snacks and souvenirs. All in all, the ultimate pick for a beer connoisseur.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Hands-down the best craft beer place we visited in St. Petersberg. Tucked away in a little alley (trust your google map) and underground, but it's all worth it once we were inside, it's a true beer lovers' heaven. The staff (or owners) are super knowledgeable, and all the beers (we asked for only Russian craft beer) they recommended were pretty amazing. Even found a rare 3 Fonteinen collaboration! The prices are quite reasonable as well, compare to China and the U.S.

This took us a while to find and we walked past it several times. It's tucked away inside a courtyard and you go down some stairs into the bar. The sign outside was a bit difficult to see until you are close.

Once inside they had a good selection of beers across 12 taps. I think the craft beer scene in Russia is quite young but brewers seem keen to make up for lost time. Styles currently popular elsewhere, including Gose and DDH IPAs can be found and breweries seem keen to push these styles to their limits, with occasional Russian twists.

We tried a strong barley wine called B-15, a very tasty gose called Рычал, ссу and an impressive imperial stout with naga jolokia chilli called ERIS vs Naga. They also had a beer brewed with part Kvass, the local low alcohol drink made from rye bread.

The bar is appropriately named, the staff were friendly and keen to talk through the beers available (in English).

This is a great little location. The staff are awesome, welcoming and speak English so can guide you through the plethora of beer in Russia along with its exploding beer scene.

There are a couple of rotating taps with local and European beers. In the fridges they normally have some interesting cans and bottles. As a tip, you need to walk through down Rubenstein street away from Nevsky, just behind the McDonald's on the left is a little alleyway. Walk down this till you see the archway with stairs leading down. That's beer geek!

I have visited multiple times in the last 18 months and always stick my head in as you get a great eclectic mix of foreigners, brewers, craft beer people and its all fuses into an awesome evening each and every time.

Beer Geek is a tiny bar and easy to miss, just off Nevski Prospect. Might be small but has biggest range of beers going. There are about a dozen craft beers on tap, then choices of 100s of bottles around the room. Some potent choices too! Be warned. Staff speak very good English and can advise on what you should try. If you're into beer and in St P this place is a must

There are not too many options in SPB for a decent pint, but this is a little gem. Friendly with good English spoken behind the bar.
