About
Museum complex is among the Europe’s largest railway museums. The museum complex is spread over a vast area. It has two buildings — an old locomotive depot building and an eye-catching modern building. The buildings are connected with a suspension bridge to make a single structure. Museum tours include visiting a collection of rare and legendary steam trains, locomotives, electric locomotives, railcars and other rolling stock. Historical artifacts rub shoulders with current operating models, interactive installations and temporary exhibition halls, building an unusual and engaging museum space.

I have visited many train museums around the world, including Budapest, Neapol, New York and a lot more. The greatest minus for me was a complete inability to climb trains or see whats inside them. Due to Covid-19 most of interactive excibits were close, so it defenetly couldn't beat the tram ride in Budapest. However, it has a lot of unusual rare excibit like half open trains with coloured mechanics. For us as people who stand an internity next to every single mode of transportation, noticing every single detail and reading every single word the whole museum took around three and a half hours to walk. It has really interesting and well-informed stands to everything inside. Overall, it's a huge and well designed museum. A good is good

Of all the museum's this was the most well laid our and accessible. Surprisingly very quiet though even though it was a Saturday. Lots of steam locomotives, diesel and carriages spread across 2 buildings and also an outside area.fully accessible for buggies and those that are disabled (probably the only place we've found so in Moscow and st Petersburg so that was very refreshing). Cheap and brilliant for train enthusiasts.

Allow plenty of time, exhibits are both indoors and outdoors so keep your coat with you if weather is cold or wet. A wide range of railway wagons, some of which are very unusual such as rail mounted cannon and a missile launcher.

I am mildly interested in historic trains, but the museum alone is worth a visit. It's all brand new, spacious, interactive, well presented and just around the corner from the Metro station. Great place to spend two hours on a rainy day.

I visited this museum with my wife and kids. The museum is owned and run by the Russian Railways. The exhibit are very nicely presented both indoor and outdoor. All the locomotives and train cars are perfectly restored. Some of the exhibit are made with storyline such as trains that were used during war time. There are a few interesting trains such as the trains with huge artillery and trains with ICMB launching pad.

There are some English information but many exhibits are in Russians only but I still recommend a visit. For exhibit with Russians only, you can use Google translate which can reasonably translate the text.

The locomotives are spaciously laid out so almost every photo will be great! Details of age, usage are in English as well as Russian. There are a great range of steam and diesal locomotives. The roundhouse has a wonderful atmosphere. Last admission is 6:30pm and closes at 9pm. It's closed on Thursday. Keep going left outside the underground station. (It's set back a bit from the road). Burger bar outside. I spent 5 hours there. Friendly ticket staff. Only 9 Roubles for seniors!

Not being a train geek I wasn't to interested in going here but it was fantastic. The display is huge and really well set out. There is limited English explanation on some exhibits but enough. The display takes you through the history of trains in Russia even allowing you to enter some of the trains. Highpoint would have to have been the missile train. Planned on being there an hour and spent closer to 3. Great for adults and kids. There is a metro station next door or for 300 roubles you can catch a Yandex (Uber) from the city centre.

A lot of old and modern locomotives. From the first Russian steam locomotive to "imperial trains" and modern military and civil locomotives. Good rare photos can be done.
The territory of the museum is very big. You may spend here from 1 hour to 1 day and learn much about railways.
