About
Museum complex is among the Europe’s largest railway museums. The museum complex is spread over a vast area. It has two buildings — an old locomotive depot building and an eye-catching modern building. The buildings are connected with a suspension bridge to make a single structure. Museum tours include visiting a collection of rare and legendary steam trains, locomotives, electric locomotives, railcars and other rolling stock. Historical artifacts rub shoulders with current operating models, interactive installations and temporary exhibition halls, building an unusual and engaging museum space.

We visited the museum with our class. The museum is certainly unique, and we were very lucky with our guide Irina Nikolaevna. The manner of presenting information, knowledge of child psychology, and the ability to hold the children’s attention made the excursion incredibly interesting! Thank you!

I am mildly interested in historic trains, but the museum alone is worth a visit. It's all brand new, spacious, interactive, well presented and just around the corner from the Metro station. Great place to spend two hours on a rainy day.

I visited this museum with my wife and kids. The museum is owned and run by the Russian Railways. The exhibit are very nicely presented both indoor and outdoor. All the locomotives and train cars are perfectly restored. Some of the exhibit are made with storyline such as trains that were used during war time. There are a few interesting trains such as the trains with huge artillery and trains with ICMB launching pad.

There are some English information but many exhibits are in Russians only but I still recommend a visit. For exhibit with Russians only, you can use Google translate which can reasonably translate the text.

The locomotives are spaciously laid out so almost every photo will be great! Details of age, usage are in English as well as Russian. There are a great range of steam and diesal locomotives. The roundhouse has a wonderful atmosphere. Last admission is 6:30pm and closes at 9pm. It's closed on Thursday. Keep going left outside the underground station. (It's set back a bit from the road). Burger bar outside. I spent 5 hours there. Friendly ticket staff. Only 9 Roubles for seniors!

This is a very impressive, new museum containing many locomotives, coaches, wagons and other artifacts. It's a huge museum, with indoor and outdoor displays. Everything is arranged superbly with excellent digital descriptions in both Russian and English. The museum is not dominated by steam, unlike some, and has a large collection of diesels and electrics, including the wonderful 1924 prototype diesel with a 1-Co-Do-Co-1 wheel arrangement, which has to be seen to be believed. The mobile missile launcher is another excellent, if rather sinister, sight, You need at least 3 hours to take everything in if you are a railway enthusiast.

The railway museum is one of the best in the world - and I have been to quite a few. Easy to find, exit the metro turn left past the mainline station then left again follow the sign. Lots of information in English and many varied displays that are unique to Russia. Well worth a visit

The museum is mot impressive in size and technology. It’s also a huge lecturer in history regarding tren war weapon. One really needs some time to take it all in.
