Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stroganov Palace is one of the some palaces located on the riverbank in St. Petersburg. It is a big palace, which was of Stroganov Family (the creator of Steak Stroganov) until the Russian Revolution. Now it is a very nice building of Russian Museum, so it is possible to visit a lot of rooms of the palace. Very interesting.

We visited because of the special exhibition of drawings and prints by Salomon Yugovin who chronicled the siege and its horrors. It is important to remember how much the civilian population suffered during those terrible years. Yugovin is an invaluable witness because of his humanity and his respectful detachment--very moving and a must if you are in town.

The rest of the palace is quite splendiferous though not so hideously vulgar as the Youssupov Palace--some gorgeous baroque rooms overlooking the canal.

As usual we marvel at the little old ladies who look after the place--same in all the museums in St Petersburg--we only wish the guards in the Louvre, the Frick collection, or MOMA were so gentle and so pleasant. They should be sent on a mission to train the horrid creatures in Paris and NYC.

The Stroganaov palace is fairly interesting and contains some very beautiful rooms. The main room to see in the palace is the mineral study. There aren't that many huge crowds here which made it very comfortable to be in. This is the type of attraction to visit if you're just killing time or have nothing else to see in the area.

Maybe this had a lot of land around it when built but now it's shoehorned on Nevskiy along with shops and offices, though it is on a corner. It's not particularly grand. We did hear a couple of stories about how Count Stroganov invented beef stroganov from different guides. Notice it when you walk or drive by but that's about it.

Thanks for reading. I’ll appreciate a thumbs up below if you’ve found this helpful.

It s true , compare to some others palaces
This one is empty, no furniture so the ambiance is less romantique but it still to be interesting
The ballroom is just stunning and the staff is more friendly that the others !

The palace seems to not be popular with tourists, which is a shame. It is lovely and should be included on more itineraries. It is small, but there is lots of great architecture inside.

We popped into here when we had a free day in St Petersburg in early May. There was not a lot to see inside but it was interesting and we particularly appreciated the fact that it was quiet. We almost had the building to ourselves as there were only a few other people inside at the time. Hence we really got the feeling of being in a palace.

I remember things were explained about the building and I think that was by notice boards in each room as we went around. You will not need long to go into here, but it was fairly cheap and, if I remember correctly, they offered combined tickets with other museums. We just bought the ticket for there as we would not have had time to go into the other places. Well worth popping in if you have the time, and especially if you want respite form the busier places.

This is a modest museum on Nevskiy Prospekt that is worth a look if you are in the area.
Mostly of architectural interest but well decorated and maintained.
There is an elevator to avoid the stairs but the staff are not keen to use it. But if you persist the this makes access easy.

You can easily walk past this place and not realise that you can get in. Much of what you see is about the architecture as well as porcelain and painted art. The state romm has a fantastic ceiling. Added bonus was being told off fir being too near a rope, while she was clearly chewing a wasp!
