Prince Grigory Potemkin received the title of Prince of Tauride and estate lands (garden and palace) for leading a successful attempt to conquer Crimea for Russia. The garden was laid out in 1783-1800 by the English garden master V. Gould during the construction of the Tauride Palace. The garden was badly damaged by the floods of 1924 and during the siege of Leningrad. The first restoration took place in 1958. The second restoration was carried out in 1997-2001. Old trees have been preserved mainly along the borders of the Tauride Garden. The monument to S. A. Yesenin was erected in 1995. In summer, there are many people sunbathing on the lawns of the park. A very beautiful park.

Tauride Gardens surround the main building: Tauride Palace, which is now a government building. Gardens are located in the surroundings of St. Petersburg and they are opened to the public (the main building is closed), so you can come here with or without children and run, walk, do sport, sit or only relax, while you eat or drink something. Really, when I visited these place (October-2018), it was full of people (tourists and people from St. Petersburg). (see also Tauride Palace)
