I personally learned about the Mosaic Courtyard from a wonderful guide who took my daughter and me around St. Petersburg at night and showed us interesting places in the city.
This open-air museum began in 1984 on the initiative of the artist Vladimir Lubenko. First, the interior space (entrance) of the front door of the house was decorated. And then it spilled out onto the street)) Walls, benches, sculptures, a children's playground and much more in the yard are decorated with mosaics.
I like it. Very! It always makes me happy when someone wants to make the world around them more interesting and beautiful. He did it! There is also a small museum there. But at night it was, of course, closed. They only examined what was on the street. I was especially impressed by a panel covering almost the entire wall of the house, dedicated to the creation of the city of St. Petersburg. How much work and love for your work has been put into it!
Lucky are those who live there. On the one hand)) And on the other, there are always a lot of people there. Even at night. We weren't the only ones there. I would recommend going there to have a look. This is cool! Moreover, the courtyard is located in the center, on the Fontanka.

Cool urban art created by art students and teachers in the inner courtyard of a gigantic apartment building. If you are into more unusual and cool places you should check this out. Even the children's jungle gym was awesome.
The place is a little off the beaten path, but if we can find it without stopping to ask for help so can you. Here are the instructions we followed:
Take Metro Line 1 (Red Line) toward Devyatkino. Get off at the Chernyshevskaya stop. After leaving station, walk north on Chernyshevskogo. At 2nd big street go left on ul. Chaykovskogo. Walk way back almost to Fontanka River---after you cross Gagarinskaya ul. it will be a bit further down on Right. The apartment building fills the whole block, it's huge. To find a way in that was actually open we had to walk around to the opposite side of the building by the river, but we got there. From the Metro I think it was about a 15 minute walk.
Really cool place, check it out.

I was looking for something unusual to do in SPb and heard about this wonderful, hidden courtyard. An artist + his students created this outdoor exhibition, complete with a mosaic fountain surrounded by benches where you can admire the mosaics and sit and relax with the soothing sounds of the fountain. The fountain mosaics have lights which come on at sunset. Very pretty.

I think its one of the most exceptional places I have visited! Definately suggest to go there. Very unique place ❤️ there pictures made on the wall from little pieces glass on other matrials. Also little sculptures with angelwings. There are statues of 3 huge person and a kinder area in the park is decorated. It is very colourful and facinating - must of taken a long time to create something like this. People say that the person who started with the project was not very intact in his mind and saw things normal people do not. Definately worth to see and experience! 😁

This was a pleasant space to sit for a while in this busy city, enjoying the water fountain and mosaics.

An outstanding example of transformation of ordinary city yard. The yard was made an unique place by tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) mosaic pieces. And this was planned and done mostly by one man!
I wish every yard would be such an unusual and creative. I hope it will be possible it the future.

This was one of my favourite finds on my trip to St. Petersburg. It’s not a tourist attraction per se, and the morning I was there I was the only person in the place. Two young women who work there came out and took the tarp off the fountain and turned it on for me — lovely and very helpful young women. Basically it’s an entire courtyard that has been done in mosaic sculpture by a local artist/teacher. I do amateur mosaic work myself, so it was rather thrilling to find this little out-of-the-way place. As others have said, it’s tucked away in a residential area but I didn’t think it was that hard to find. Take a cab to the address listed above, then find the alleyway leading to a parking area and courtyard space in the middle of a group of buildings. If you’re a fan of mosaics or art in general, this is definitely worth a visit.

It is a bit difficult to find this marvel hidden behind apartment complexes in a parking lot. It seems they are influenced by Gaudi. Anyway, the search and the walking was worth. The sundial was impressive. Thanks to Atlas Obscura !

Perhaps when this was first made it was pretty and interesting. But not now.
It's old and worn down and really there is nothing to see. I was expecting it to be like a street covered head-to-toe in mosaic but it's not. So don't have any expectations if you decide to go a check this place out otherwise you will be disappointed.
The only positive thing about walking all the way to this 'attraction' is the lovely parks you walk through to get there.

First off.... this is nestled behind several buildings in a small park nestled in a parking lot. You can easily walk by the entrance and miss it. You need to walk into the parking area and down a bit. It is very peaceful but the park is showing some its age. The most impressive is a 24 hour sundial
