Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The embankments of Neva river is spectacular during winter. Even though it is frozen, the site is gorgeous.

There are several embankments on the Neva. One in the former British Embassy is called the British Embankment, the University embankment by the Egyptian statues, called the Admiralty Embankment by the Admiralty building, the Kutuzov by the Kutusov palace by the Neva, the Petrovskaya by the cabin of Peter the Great, the one by the Hermitage is called the Palace Embankment. My favorite was the palace embankment, overlooking the Roman columns of the Vasileostrovsky / Petrogradsky district and the old palace.

Walking along the embankments of the Neva one can admire a myriad of palaces and important buildings and parks.

St Petersburg is the former capital and has the moniker "Venice of the North". There is no better way to see the city, day or night, than by boat on the canals.

Take a walk along this great river to view the city sights, the fantastic architecture and to appreciate the history. It's essential though even in mid-September the weather was cold and windy so wrap up!

Taking a walk along the Neva Embankments gives great views of different attractions on both sides of the river. Departure points along the way for river cruises and the hydrofoil to Peterhof.
We had an early flight home so managed to see the raising of the bridges. If out walking at night don't get caught out by this as it's a long detour to get from one side of the river to the other.

We took a night cruise on the Faberge river boat which departs just across the Faberge museum. Unfortunately we did not ask and our cruise happened to be in Russian! In any case, we totally enjoyed the experience with the exception of the loud tour guide speaking nonstop into a microphone in a language we do not understand!
The views are stunning! A completely different perspective of the city is gotten from the water. It isn’t so evident that St. Petersburg is a city on several islands until you take a river and canal cruise. The magnificent architectural highlights are mostly riverside making the cruise a perfect way to admire and photograph them.

In Saint Petersburg, there are some Neva Embankments, from where you can see very beautiful views of the Neva River and other embankments. So, it is recommendable to walk around the riverside and enjoy with the views and with the buildings and museums you can see and visit in each embarkment. Very nice.

I have walked along there and enjoyed the views from the other side of the river. The best way is going on a neva boat trip. In summer I recommend doing an evening tour with sunset and darkness and the glittering bridge lights. Fantastic views and impressions I will never forget.
