The luxury shop of the Merchants Eliseevs was built at the end of the last century.
Now the historical interior with luxury in everything has been restored here.
You can come here just like on a tour, you don’t want to buy something, as the prices are 2-3 times higher than other grocery stores. There are also two restaurants here.

During my Road Scholar visit to St Petersburg in 2018 we visited Magazin Kupstov Yeliseyevykh on Nevsky Prospekt with its moving window displays and Nouveau style interior decor. The food displays were opulent, with fresh oysters and a selection of caviar, plus baked goods, sweets, teas and cafe service. Well worth a visit!

It was cold and we needed something to warm us up. The place looked like Fortnum and Mason in London, so we were expecting high prices. However, the food and drink was very good and very reasonably priced. The ambience was great. We also ended up buying gifts for our friends there with the help of the very professional and helpful staff.

This corner building on the even side of Nevsky Prospekt and Malaya Sadovaya Street is certainly one of the most remarkable. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the Art Nouveau style by entrepreneur Grigory Eliseev. The wonderful interior of the store on the ground floor, as well as the incredible attractiveness of the windows and counters, sets it apart from any store ever seen. Since then, the adjective Eliseevsky for a store in St. Petersburg and a similar store in Moscow has become a brand not only for the pre-revolutionary bourgeoisie, but also for ordinary Soviet people. The Eliseevsky brand remains famous and attractive in our time.

A magnificent building in the Art Nouveau style, beautiful interior of the store, crystal chandeliers, exquisite stucco. Beautiful place where you can buy all sorts of sweets, cakes, pastries and fine chocolates. Also lots of luxury goods, mainly delicstassen type meats and cheeses, plus come local delicacies . Nice atmosphere and good service. Great interior and background music.Pop in, even for a quick visit.

This super-decorative food store, a cousin of Harrod's food halls, is sadly non-available for visitors nowadays being under constant restoration with current tenants not interested in its implementation: rent is too high, obligations - too heavy: to preserve original destination making the final price of food incompetitive.
The complex (including also a theatre, and a restaurant) was constructed in 1903 by architect Baranovsky for Yeliseev brother trading house and was supposed only for selling "colonial goods" - exotic food, fruit and wine. In Soviet time its destination was preserved - with certain changes in offer as at that time any kind of food was gradually becoming exotic, but "the Yeliseevsky" - as it was always called in spite of a formal change for "the Gastrnom #1" - had always had to sell something edible.
In the period of commercialisation, after the demise of the USSR they turned to transformations, and now you can see the restored facade, visit the theatre of Comedy, shop at the Benetton clothing outlet - but can not admire the authentic luxury of the food hall proper.

The building is beautiful from the outside and the inside. The desserts are excellent and beautifully made. A excellent experience all along. The only thing that wasn’t so good was that the whole place was crowded with people.

Lovely buildings expecially the art deco cafe. Just beware of pickpockets - their modus operandi is to work in groups. One pushes past you as you go through the first set of doors and blocks your route while the others go through your backpack. They are big burly guys too not youths. Luckily I had nothing taken and the security lady was lovely. It did spoil Nevsky Prospekt though and we didn't go back for a coffee and cake as we had planned.

Well not quite Harrod's but i'm sure you get it.....Grandness on a major scale....Art Noveau at it's finest.Amazing food hall incorporating a small coffee shop with tables situated around a bloody big palm tree...Delicatessen is the order of the day, with the finest chocolates, cakes, caviar,Cheese and smoked salmon among other gem's and at a cost so take plenty of cash if you want to splash out.Down stairs is a Brassiere and there is another restaurant but we never checked it out.
Went for a coffee and cake break with our tour Guide who explained the history of this impressive building and the 2 Eliseef brothers who opened it in 1903....After the revolution it was taken over by the state and now is owned by the city administration. It is on Nevski Prospect and you need to check it out if your in town.
Interesting footnote is that outside set in the Eaves of the building is a Tomcat named Elisey and on the opposite building is a cat named Vasilisa....Our guide told us to throw coins up at the cat's to see if any nestled on the metal plate they were fixed to.as it gave you luck....Check it out if your in town.

I have never seen such a beautiful place in my life. The interior is stupendous. It is worth not only to visit but also to do some shopping you can buy a lot of the souveniers for yourself and for every single member of your family. And the prices are corresponding to the quality of the products. the most incredible for me was a caviar the best I have ever tried. Moreover the shop has got 2 restaurants where you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner in the best Russsian tradition. The stuff is fantastically helpfull and obliging. We had got a caviar testing with 5 types of the caviar and with 2 types of traditional Russians Blinis.
