Delight! Pure delight! We came to St. Petersburg from Moscow and tickets to the Bolshoi Circus on Fountain on August 18 were a gift to my family. Really a gift that doesn't regret a single ruble spent!!! Perfect everything from the view of the circus building to the last second in it! The Prince of the Circus show, while it doesn't say much about the plot of the performance, looks luxurious. I was confused by the reference to the fountains, but the director so neatly and vividly braided the water into action that she became a stand-alone Artist who participated in the performance and decorated herself with already beautiful numbers, highlighting the moments. The chamber hall of the Grand Circus was not seen before the renovation, but after that it was this room that became the incarnation of the Real Circus Palace! The costumes are gorgeous (somehow there is no name and photo of the costume artist in the program, but sorry!), the animals and birds are well-groomed and gorgeous, the artists are gorgeous, the rooms are all beautiful and amazing! The daughter is delighted with Comic Erkin (I think like all the ladies present), with the parrots, and especially with the posh lions led by the inimitable and charismatic Vladislav Goncharov! The spouse loved everything from the decoration of the hall to every drop of water on stage. I sat there with my mouth open for all two actions, and I hit my hands in applause! Lorde's suites with the lions, the Templar boys on the bikes, the girls of Venus on the rings and the simply unearthly Gagarin still stand in front of their eyes. Thank you very much to all the creators and accomplices of this magic!!!

This is the first stone circus built in Russia. During its construction, the most modern technical means of that time were used, which made it possible to create an unsupported dome 49 m long, which created a feeling of spaciousness.
The building was overhauled in 2015 and once again welcomes visitors.

We visited a show by brother Zapashnih: Epicenter- it was a real treat with beautiful show, music, colours, acrobats and anymals. Though i do not like circus with animals, here animals were treated with outmost respect. Would love to go again.

At the scheduled time, I arrived at the circus with the baby, we took our seats and waited for the performance.
Right side, amphitheatre, row 10, seat 44, 43.
When it started, however, we were surprised to find that most of the arena was being enclosed by a fence that had been erected for the safety of spectators entering the hall.
The first section we watched the performance in such an unpleasant form (photo attached).
At the intermission, I asked the chaplain to transfer us to other, available seats in the room (available seats in the room were present), to which we were refused, with the wording – “Those seats are more expensive and I can’t transfer you to them (I don’t want to) and generally eat, look for the administrator and talk to him yourself.”
With the recess coming to an end, I didn't have time to run around looking for an administrator. We took our seats and continued to enjoy the view of the maneuver, through the bars of the fence.
The mood was soured by such a “remarkable” solution to an issue not worth eating.
I was very sensitive about the choice of seats in the auditorium, however, the website did not indicate that seats with “RESTRICTED VISIBILITY”, if such information were present, I would naturally not purchase such tickets and ruin the long-awaited evening for me and my child.
I believe that when buying tickets, it is necessary to specify that guests purchase tickets with “reduced visibility”, as they do in other theatres. And if the circus does not list this information on the website, then it is necessary to be more careful about the selection of the staff, who are obliged, within the scope of their duties, to address the issues that have arisen in the hall.
In response to my written complaint to the circus management, I was told that the fences blocking the visibility of parts of the stage are not a limitation of visibility and through them everything is perfectly visible, enjoy!
Dear potential audience members, when buying tickets, consider that you may not see the performance in full, but the circus workers, will snort contemptuously when listening to your requests. Get ready for this!

For once I completely disagree with all the reviews. This was the biggest disappointment of our trip. We saw The show on water, but I suspect other shows will be in the same spirit.
The costumes were tacky, the choregraphy completely uninspiring, the clowns not funny, the whole show boring. And NOT cheap!
We went because the Russian circus has a great reputation abroad. I guess the circus they send abroad are not the same. When we went to Beijing we saw the chinese acrobats and that was exceptional. This circus is a complete waste of time.

The last time I watched a circus was probably 25 years back. Watching a Russian circus in Russia was a dream come true. It was a fantastic experience. The quality of the presentation is fabulous. The artists are amazing. The sound and the music are mesmerizing
Special thanks to the ticket lady for helping us to our seats and then later upgrading us to the VIP seats at no cost.
It’s a must visit (especially when traveling with children).

What we saw during the circus performance blew us away with one act after another of top-notch quality and skills. We had not expected that level of artistry and talent because of the small size of the ring, and the hard-sell activities in the lobby before the performance. We tried the cafe in the lobby => that was also unimpressive. However, it turned out that the small ring was actually a positive point because it felt pretty up-close-and-personal. With only 1 exception, we thoroughly enjoyed, and were awed by, all the acts. (The exception was the older lady with the hula hoops --- she must have been great when she had been younger...)

Acrobats, dancing dogs, siberian tigers, hopping on horses, four comedians as a soccer team all formed part of this memorable experience. A must see!!!

I have been to many Circus attractions but this is the real experience. 2 1/2 hours of amazing acts make you loose track of time and space. Book at least 12 days in advance.

Do you need to book ahead in May or can we secure tickets when we check into the hotel?
Thank You

We booked 10 days in advance (we went on Nov) and we were lucky to get seats, if you are going in ‘May’ it might be a busy season hence it’s advise to book atleast 3 weeks in advance.

the reception desk of our hotel helped us book the tickets online as the site was in Russian language. You could also visit their website and book it.

Many thanks to Victoria for publishing these photos. I was only considering buying a ticket to fill in time between checking out of my hotel and my flight later that evening. Having seen this barbaric treatment of the animals, I have decided to boycott the place.
Peace and solidarity to you.

I wasn't aware of any barbaric treatment to animals. On the contrary these seemed contented, well loved, well fed enjoying the trics they performed and well looked after. Contrary to animals caged for life in a zoo
