2-floor "summer" home for Peter I (he lived on the bottom floor ) and Catherine (she lived upstairs). His aim was for this to look like Venice. You be the judge (we've been to Venice and, in our opinion... not so much). Peter-party-head like to...More

Splendid place, regreshing. Statues, fountains, history and culture, source for celebrated Pushkin Queen of Spades. Nicely renovated, with plates explaining about every object/building/garden. Entrances from the 2 opposited sides, from the Neva embarkment or from the Mikhailovsky Palace. No parking.

Letny Sad is across the river from most of the other main tourist attractions, but it is absolutely worth a visit. When I went the weather was still fluctuating between warm and cold, but there were still a lot of flowers in bloom. The buildings...More

Despite our bad timing for the visit to a Summer garden, much was still in bloom, and we had a lovely stroll around the gardens. This is clearly a favourite pastime of the locals over the weekend, and there are a few options for a...More
