The Blue Bridge is the widest bridge in the world with an impressive 319-foot span encompassing the entire width of St. Isaac's Square. Built of cast iron in 1818 by the Russian architect Geste. In the 19th century, the bridges along the Moika River were color-coded, and the Blue Bridge is one of four to maintain this tradition. Its elegant,... More

There are a large number of bridges in St Petersburg which cross the numerous canals. This one happens to be painted blue, and is close to St Isaac's Cathedral and the statue of Nicholas I, but otherwise is much the same as all the others.

the blue bridge lies at the back of st. Isaacs cathedral, square and palace. it is so wide that you can not see it as a bridge, in fact wider than longer. you have to look for the blue railings to appreciate its enormous width. for its very wideness parts of it are being used as parking space.

I did not see the wider bridge, but I am almost sure that there is some wider bridge in the world, maybe it used to be widest :)

The Blue Bridge (Russian: Siniy most) is a 97.3 meter wide bridge crossing the Moika River in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Blue Bridge is the widest bridge in Saint Petersburg and is sometimes claimed to be the widest bridge in the world. As it is relatively short, it looks like a part of Saint Isaac's square. It is located in... More

This widest bridge in the city received its name from the colour of its railings - which are still painted blue. In a working day you can hardly see it in its full width - as it is now occupied by the parking area of the city parliament. The oldest part of the bridge can be easily separated from a... More
