    Probably just one time
We went to the Peter and Paul Fortress with the children during a sightseeing tour. We liked it, the children were generally very pleased, because they saw her so close for the first time. You can walk for a long time inside, there are many different places to look at both inside and nearby. You can just take a walk, or you can go to the park of museums and thematic exhibitions for a fee. Nice place in the city center.

    The personification of Russian culture
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this fortress. Firstly, due to its location, from here you can see St. Petersburg across the Neva River from a different prism. Secondly, this fortress has many interesting museums and exhibitions. And thirdly, here is the atmosphere of ancient Russian culture, attitude towards the monarchy, etc. In particular, I was fascinated by the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Grand Ducal Tomb. I really liked the choir of priests that happens after a certain time. The family visited the Trubetskoy Bastion prison, they were impressed. But it was frosty, so we didn’t have time to see everything. But we had lunch at the Koryushka restaurant with access to the Neva and excellent food. So this place is a must-visit for city visitors.

Historic site . Famously, the cathedral houses one of the three angels who guard Saint Petersburg. In Peter and Paul Fortress - golden. And we were lucky, we saw a salute, from the cannons of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

    Peter and Paul Fortress
Oh, I'm so used to such huge tourist crowds. It is one thing to walk and consider charming houses, and quite another to go to places where there are crowds of tourists, and not always well-mannered. This year, St. Petersburg has become one of the most budget-friendly destinations for tourists from all over the country, so now it's so crowded, it's a nightmare. I noticed that noisy comrades from Asia were back again. Came more for company, but still had a great time. Plus we got to rehearsal for some military event, so it was a varied walk. For different museums and exhibitions you can buy separate tickets, or buy a single one for 1000 rubles.

    Heart of the city
Compulsory to visit in St. Petersburg. Paving stones. The wooden bas-relief above the gate, which is in gorgeous condition, is a miracle! And the cathedral itself, the spire going into a heavy grey or delicate blue sky, looks very light.

Peter and Paul fortress is a very big campus encompassing a church with bell tower and lots and lots of museum of different categories. There are different passes available and we chose for the one which covers everything. However, as like other museums in Russia, you need a lot of time to visit it completely. The church is beautiful and has a gigantic bell tower. You need to climb a lot of stairs (and huffing and puffing) to reach to the bell. Museums are beautiful especially the science museum, space museum and the old jail.

The creation of the city of Saint Petersburg was a daring feat. This fortress is located on an island which was the nucleus of the future city. It was designed as a closed rampart consisting of bastions and curtains. The main building within the fortress is the Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral, the imperial burial-vault.
The Peter and Paul Fortress is a must-see in Saint Petersburg.

I've been there more than once, there are many interesting museums. Even if there is no specific goal, you can find something interesting for every taste and every person. It could be a museum of cosmonautics or the history of money, maybe the Trubetskoy Bastion Prison, and if you have already been everywhere, then there will probably be some new exhibition. You can go here on any day (except Wednesday) and in any weather, alone or with a group, you will always learn something new. I recommend everyone who finds themselves in St. Petersburg to visit there)

This was probably the least favourite place we visited whilst in st Petersburg. Maybe we expected too much. The consolidated pass is 750 per adult, which covers 7 exhibitions. There are a lot more exhibitions but they aren't included in the pass.

When purchasing a ticket, we encountered discrimination against Moscow pensioners. We were not sold a discounted ticket because we did not present our pension certificate. The Muscovite's social card did not work! Pension certificates have not been issued in Moscow for a long time. There were no problems purchasing discounted tickets in other museums in St. Petersburg.

The first stone for the foundation of the Peter and Paul Fortress was laid on May 27, 1703. This day is also considered to be the founding day of St. Petersburg. Despite the powerful fortifications of the fortress and its full readiness for attack, it never took part in battles. The excellent security of the city from the water played a big role in this.

We arrived on Hare Island in the morning, but excursion groups were already walking around here and even filming a movie. We visited the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Trubetskoy Bastion prison, the torture museum and the money museum. Next, our path lay to the cruiser Aurora.

Yes, I visited in Nov 2019 and it was a cold morning and was snowing. When we reached there, it was already covered in a thin layer of fluffy snow giving a whitish cover all around. It smelled fresh and looked beautiful.

Interesting fortress that - unfortunately- remained rather unimpressive. We spent some time walking around, enjoying the views and the architecture. However, considering the distance from the city center, it turned out only medium worthwhile for us.

Really is a moving place, seeing all the places where the Tsars are and especially the room with Nicholas ll and his wife and children. Such a beautiful church and also beautiful views. Wasn’t as good as the palaces, but would definitely recommend going, very interesting.
