What a marvelous museum to visit. 3,5 mln arts items on display. The building by itself is a piece of art in itself. A must do when you visit St. Peterburg.

but also a conveyor belt. Even though most of it is not original it does show the opulence of what was imperial Russia. There aren't many places in the world where you can see something like this. But the crowds truly detract from the experience.

This is an amazing museum - well worth a visit but I would recommend getting a guided tour and a 'skip the queue' ticket. It's not cheap but the queues are enormous so being able to go straight in is a real bonus. Inside it...More

I have visited many top museums with crowds in the world but my experience at the Hermitage was the worst ever. Management made no attempt to limit the number of visitors. In the popular rooms, it was impossible to go near any exhibits without dodging...More

One of the top attractions of the city, it's a huge museum that requires a lot of time to be seen and appreciated. Always crowded and full of groups of tourists which may make it difficult to snake aroud.

Hi! Don't know about the guided tour at the entrance as we had booked through a local travel agent to procure the visa as well. The audio guide is pretty helpful though the museum is too big to be covered in a day & a guide... More
