Trinity Cathedral is the most important religious building in Pskov. In fact it is located inside the walls of the Kremlin (the main fortress) in the city, about 300km far from Saint Petersburg. It is a fortified cathedral with some domes in the upper zone. In fact, there is a golden dome and four blue domes surrounded the first one. It is very beautiful. Also, for enter to the main hall, you can go up some stairs, it is very curious.

Trinity Cathedral, in the form in which it now appears to our eyes, has been standing for nearly three centuries. This is the fourth temple that bears this name and was built on the site of its predecessors.
Nowadays the existing Trinity Cathedral was built from 1682 to 1699. The material for him was a white ashlar. Originally, the cathedral looked even simpler than today. Outside, the Trinity Cathedral has no particular abundance of decorations. In 1895 the cathedral was plastered, the walls received additional stucco decorations.
In the Trinity Cathedral, the princes were solemnly imprisoned in the principality, here was the tomb of prominent figures of the Pskov land.
The inner space is underlined by a delightful 42-meter 7-tier carved, wooden, gilded iconostasis of the XVII-XVIII centuries. In the interior of the temple, between the columns, there is a reliquary, in which the relics of Sts. Princes Vsevolod-Gabriel and Dovmont-Timofey, Blessed Nikolai Sallos and St. Iosaaf Snetogorsky. To the left of the Royal Doors, the Olginsky Cross is installed in the northern nave.
Among the shrines of the Cathedral it is worth noting the miraculous image of the icon Mother of God Chirskaya.

This is the architectural statement of the central power of Moscow, taking over Pskov. The place it’s beautiful and it’s so different from the tradicional architecture of Pskov, full of reliquaries and stories behind

We had a great experience walking around the old walls, looking at the historic places in a beautiful setting overlooking the river. I couldn't wait to show my husband the place where i was baptized as a child: except They wouldn't let me in in my jeans, even if i covered my head with a hoodie. Fine, these are the rules: female modesty is a must, and a woman wearing pants is an unthinkable insult. Except when I saw some teenage chick freely going inside wearing a mini-skirt and a crop-top. Seriously? Yeah. Only go if you are really into that Jesus stuff.

You have to be impressed with the amazing Icons in the cathedral. A lot of steps for some people to climb but it is worth it.

Located inside the walls of the castle, this cathedral is amazing. The altar piece fills the entire wall from floor to roof and there are lots of icons all over the place. Free to enter but (as the rules are) women must cover their heads before entering. There are scarves to borrow just inside the doors of the cathedral. Photos without flash are allowed. If you can get a guide, you'll get more out from the visit, but just seeing is a top experience on its own. There are toilets in the castle grounds but not inside the cathedral.
