Great view - interesting memorial

We walked from central Murmansk - is an enjoyable walk, takes about 45min - 1hr. Great view from the memorial - is a moving reminder of the Soviet sacrifice in WW2.

Very impressive - the view on fjord is beautiful. Very easy approach with bus or car, with big parking place.

impressive but cold and windy walk to the top, with great views over murmansk and the possibility of catching aurora - though it did not materialise for us. Take a taxi there. It's a 30min walk from the nearest bus stop.

It would have been more enjoyable with less wind and higher temperature. Yet, the place feels so sacred and is special with the flame and gigantic monument. One thing that would have been very perfect here is the polar light watch. Couldn't imagine how romantic that would be.

This is a mighty and powerful monument to commemorate the many victims of world war 2. If you are in Murmansk this is a place you have to see.

Definitely a must see in Murmansk. The Alyosha Monument is amazing. This stark, immense sculpture of a soldier can be seen from pretty much anywhere in Murmansk but you must visit it up close to realize how large it really is. The location also gives a wonderful view of Kola Bay and the city of Murmansk.

It was a short trip to the monument but in just couple of minutes managed to visit the monument - typical example of Soviet time and to enjoy stunning views over the Bay and the city. The monument is surrounded by a beautiful park which is totally worths a stroll especially if the weather is nice. Definitely one of the... More

This is a amazing place near the Murmansk city. I visit here in Jan 2014. Beautiful view of the city from this hill. A huge statue of a soldier of Soviet era in WW II (about 35 meter) with a long overcoat and a rifle hanging on his solder. Must visit

It is a huge sculpture dedicated to the defenders of Murmansk during the WWII. It is not in the centre, makes sense to take a taxi or use public transport to get there. The monument is impressive and the site offers a nice view over the port of Murmansk. No services around the site, at least we did not see... More
